"I visited Bristol’s hidden vintage shop that is a treasure trove of bargains"

There is a hidden vintage shop in Bristol that most people don't even know is there - and it's filled with incredible bargains.

Located on West Street in Bedminster, Dear Old Thing prides itself on being a specialist antique, vintage and retro store selling a wide range of different items. While it may look small from the front, once inside the shop opens up into a massive showroom space with smaller rooms off the sides.

It boasts seven rooms all packed with gems, from the classic second hand furniture to more quirky items like old cameras. With the possibility of finding some amazing items of treasure, we decided we would head down to the store ourselves to see what vintage items they had for sale.

Upon reaching the store, the first thing you notice is the sign outside saying there are “7 rooms to enjoy,” something customers wouldn’t expect from the street. You can tell the place is bursting with items as even the front window has many items stacked up.

Walking through the store I noticed a few items I found to be quite quirky. The first was a set of skis leant against the wall, an item you definitely wouldn’t expect to see in a charity store. The skis looked to be in rather good condition as well and cost just £50 for the pair, which have been suggested as a great display item.

The next quirky item I noticed on my journey through the small store was an old field radio, which again looked to be in excellent working condition. Costing just £18, this item is nothing like what you can buy brand new today and is something not many people will have seen before.

Not only can you find second-hand furniture and quirky items, you can also find one or two vintage items dotted around. One of my particular favourites I came across was a beautiful, and very old parasol costing just £18. While the item had aged relatively well and seemed to be in a good condition, it also looked very fragile, definitely an item for the display cabinet.

Another item that was just beautiful was a grandfather clock that had already been sold, which is no surprise as it was absolutely stunning.

The store really is a trove of treasure, the walls are lined with pictures and mirrors and the rooms are filled with old items, like a basket of Ladybird books, and new items, like wicker baskets and wicker chest of drawers.

You could easily spend an hour just looking through what they have to offer.
