I visited a greengrocers in Leeds to buy fruit - and it was cheaper than every leading supermarket

In times like these, it's important to shop for a bargain. With the cost of living going up, basics such as fruit and veg are seeing a price hike. It might be time to go back to days of old and give your local friendly greengrocer, butcher and fishmonger a visit.

In the past, before supermarkets dominated our high streets, greengrocers and food stalls were the place to go for your groceries. Older generations would visit these stalls frequently, often haggling on price for fruit and veg.

However, over the years, these businesses have seen a decline. Supermarkets took over, selling these items at a cheaper rate, but not anymore.
