With the weather having been warm over the past couple of weeks, heading to the pub to get a nice cool, refreshing and somewhat alcoholic drink tops a lot of people’s lists. Last week Bristol Live shared an ingenious map created by a Bristolian which plotted out where pint lovers can get a cheap pint around the Harbourside.
With many people in his comments section loving the idea of a “budget” pub crawl, we decided we would head to one of the venues on the list to see if they really were as cheap as he suggested.
Just on the south side of the river and right by Asda in Southville, The Little Grosvenor is a small, independently run business. Approximately 15 minutes from Bristol’s city centre, this is an ideal location for all who may wish to visit.

The first thing you really notice about the pub is that even at 5 o’clock it is highly popular among locals, even walking up the road you could hear how busy the place was.
Heading inside, the place isn’t overly massive and the majority of the space is taken up with the bar that wraps around from one side of the pub to the other. There is also a range of places to sit down, from the larger tables near the front windows to the more intimate seats towards the back, although most people were standing around the bar chatting to other locals and the bar lady.
There’s even a little outside bit at the back for smokers or those who just want some fresh air with their pint.
When you step inside, you really get the feeling that this really is a place where people come together, and it’s no wonder why. The staff are cheerful and really friendly and the drinks really are as cheap as suggested - a can of lager costs £1.75, a cider £2 with the traditional rough cider only an extra 50p and spirits cost £1 for a single and £2 for a double.
The only downside I found, and for regulars or people who know it wouldn’t be a problem, but they only accept cash payments. But despite that, with so many positive points, you can understand why people love the place, and why it was suggest for the “budget” pub crawl.
