'I've been dancing since I was inside the womb and now I'm presenting my own BBC radio show'

Reality TV star and singer Jsky is celebrating his dream coming true after landing his own radio show on BBC Radio Manchester. After two years working as a contributor on the station Jsky, from Bury, will be hosting the Dead Good Show on Wednesdays from April 27.

Jsky, who starred in the groundbreaking reality show Naked Beach, has always wanted to be a DJ. He told us that he's been dancing ever since he was in the womb, and joked that he 'hasn't stopped since.'

"This is most definitely a dream come true," he said about his new show. "I've always been drawn to music. When my mum was pregnant with me I used to dance and kick when music was playing.

"And when I was a toddler I used to have a Fisher Price tape recorder and microphone set. I've always wanted to be a DJ."

He continued: "Music has got me through some really tough times and I know how much local radio in particular has helped people throughout lockdown and periods of loneliness. I'm walking in the footsteps of giants at BBC Radio Manchester but I'm excited to make my mark and show how I can do things."

For the past year Jsky has been presenting on Gaydio, the largest LGBT+ station in the world, with his weekly Monday evening show supported by likes of RuPaul's Drag Race stars Divina De Campo and Karen From Finance and X Factor Winner Sam Bailey.

Following a stint as the showbiz correspondent for BBC Radio Manchester's breakfast show with Chelsea Norris, Jsky caught the attention of BBC producers who booked him to be a regular guest on afternoon shows discussing the latest trending topics with Becky Want, and also as a panellist on the Dead Good Show debating everything from politics to TV and entertainment.

Jsky will take over the reins from Asma Younus. "This is an incredible opportunity that I won't take lightly," he said.

"Although I've worked really hard to get here, I know I wouldn't be here if it weren't for some people who fought really hard to get me through the door." He added: "I really want to do Manchester proud and make my family smile. I'm going to need all the support I can get. Who knows where a gig like this could take me."

Jsky, named an LGBT Pioneer of Colour by the LGBT Foundation, recently re-joined the judging panel for Pride of Britain's upcoming Pride of Manchester event. He is the headline act for Bury Pride on April 30 and is set to perform queer empowerment song Out from his EP À La Mode.

As one of the body positive naked hosts on Channel Four's Naked Beach in 2019 he helped willing participants to gain the confidence to strip naked. And last month he spoke to over 50 schools with network company Cisco on the topic of body image and online safety to help provide the next generation with a series of tools and inspiration to survive in the digital age.

Jsky hosts The Dead Good Show on BBC Radio Manchester on Wednesday evenings from April 27 at 7pm to 10pm via 95.1 FM, on BBC Sounds and DAB.
