The home of north American comfort food in Manchester never fails to deliver when it comes to serving up the most mouth watering and delicious dishes to tuck into - and the Mate Dates platters are no exception.
So when Brewski announced that they were launching a brand new sharing dish earlier this month named the ‘Poppadom Preach’, we felt it was rude not to head down to their Chorlton restaurant and try it out for ourselves.
Blending inspiration from Indian cuisine with their signature north American speciality, the box includes chicken-fried jalapeño and onion bhajis, cheeseburger samosas, cheese stuffed garlic naan taco with sweet chilli paneer, butter masala prawns, two fried chicken tikka poppadom burgers, a 16oz lamb shank and masala fries.

After reading what was included in the meal, I was ecstatic to get stuck in - and when the dishes arrived the presentation was enough to make any foodie’s jaw drop to the floor.
The first thing to catch my eye was the huge 16oz lamb shank that sat in the centre of the platter like the star of the show. I didn’t even need a knife to cut the meat a part as it was so tender that even a spoon could do the job.
Everything included in the platter was by far some of the best grub I’ve tasted in Manchester, but the stand out dish had to be the masala prawns which were rich with flavour. They even included pomegranates within the masala sauce which, at first, I thought was a little overboard, but the sweet subtlety they provided to the dish was a game changer.
The fried chicken tikka poppadom burgers also held an abundance of traditional Indian flavours - most notably the sweet mango sauce that gave the dish a vibrant flavour to compliment the poppadom included within the burger.
Another honourable mention was the cheeseburger samosas. Easily the most bizarre crossover since Ed Sheeran featured in Game of Thrones, but it works all too well.
At a price of £70, the cost can seem quite staggering, but I assure you that there’s enough food here to feed at least a party of four (and not by supermarket standards) - and the quality is up there with the most expensive of restaurants in Manchester.
All in all, I cannot recommend the Poppadom Preach platter enough, and I admittedly haven’t stopped thinking about it since trying it for myself. Brewski, you have won yourself a life long customer.
