I tried the Hot Tools brush dryer that’s a snip of the price of a Dyson Airwrap

I’m guilty of going to bed with damp hair far too often, simply because I hate drying it.

It feels like it takes forever, leaving me with arm ache, and frankly, my eight-year-old hairdryer just isn’t cutting it anymore.

And while I’d love to have £449 to spare for the Dyson Airwrap kit, I don’t - but there are plenty of budget options out there that make great alternatives.

I tried the Hot Tools Pro Signature dryer and volumiser, which comes in at £79.99, five times less than the cost of a Dyson set.

Available from Argos, the hot brush claims to be ‘unlike any blow dryer you’ve dealt with before’.

The two-in-one tool comes with a handle and a large oval shaped brush with activated charcoal infused bristles that help absorb excess oil - perfect for day two or day three hair styling.

It was really easy to set up the brush - you just clip it together and you’re ready to go.

There are three heat and two speed settings which can be selected at the base of the handle, and I was really excited to see if it would be able to cut my drying and styling time down from an hour and a half to something much more manageable.

After washing my hair, I sectioned it off and started using the highest heat and speed to dry my locks.

And even after rolling the brush down one section just four times, it was practically dry.

The trick with the Hot Tools Pro Signature dryer is to go pretty slowly to allow the brush to pick up all the hair in the section you’re drying.

It took around half an hour to dry my hair, and around another 10 to style it how I wanted - and I was incredibly impressed with the results.

My hair looked so shiny, and was super smooth thanks to the ionic conditioning, meaning the brush gives off a negative ionic charge to reduce static and frizz.

My hair felt that kind of bouncy you only ever get when you leave the salon, and was so soft to touch.

I found it really softened the edges of my hair when it came to styling the ends. I opt for a slightly curved in look, which always looks quite angular when replicated with straighteners. There were also no heat marks left in my hair, nor any bobble marks from the sectioning, meaning I didn’t need to use any other tools to complete my hair.

The detachable design means it’s really easy to store, and there’s no excuse to not take it on holiday in your suitcase as it’s super lightweight and takes up next to no room.
