I tried 'the best burger in the UK' being sold in Liverpool

Lynchburger already has sites in Liverpool city centre and Walton, and has recently opened a new site in Birkenhead.

Founder and Entrepreneur Ryan Lynch, who is also the owner of Dough pizza company, has set our hopes high claiming to sell "the best burger in the UK".

Granted, I’ve tried Dough before and was incredibly impressed, and I do believe that it is actually “better than Domino’s” like people say, but what about Lynchburger?

The company says it is now "top of the tree in the UK’s burger game" after receiving rave reviews.

I visited their Birkenhead site and ordered a feast to see what all the fuss was about, and let’s just say, I was impressed.

What I ordered

At first glance, I was really impressed with the menu, offering burgers and side dishes I’d never really come across before.

Upon recommendation, I decided to go for a classic cheeseburger, and my boyfriend went for the meaty pastrami burger.

Our order consisted of:

The Pastrami Lynchburger -
smashed steak pattie, secret sauce, lynchburger cheese blend and pastrami (with added lettuce and crispy onions)

The Cheese Lynchburger -
smashed steak pattie, secret sauce, lynchburger cheese blend (with added lettuce and crispy onions)

Buffalo and Blue Cheese Criss Cross Fries - criss cross fries tossed in blue cheese and buffalo sauce.

Truffled Hashbrowns - old school hash browns tossed in truffle oil and rosemary salt.

The Burgers

One word. Seasoning. Just one bite into my main and side and I could tell that Lynchburger is all about the seasoning, and I loved it.

You often find that some burgers and side dishes end up tasting bland, almost like they’re missing something, but the right amount of seasoning can really make a difference.

There were two things that stood out to me instantly, and that was the cheese blend and the bun itself.

Now I know what you’re thinking, surely the burger itself should’ve stood out the most, but I do believe things like the bun and the cheese are also incredibly important.

The cheese was delicious, again, like nothing I’d ever tasted before, and if I had to describe it simply I’d say it was like posh american cheese - with extra flavour.

It was creamy, but not too creamy, and complemented the juicy smashed patty perfectly.

That, combined with the mystical "secret sauce" and a fluffy burger bun (flown in from America) and the burger was a triumph.

My boyfriend really enjoyed his pastrami burger, and let’s just say, it definitely wasn’t short of pastrami, ideal for meat lovers for sure.

The peppery pastrami was cooled down with the cheese blend and the secret sauce to give off a strong and moreish flavour.

The sides

Okay, we need to take a minute to give the sides the credit they deserve, because they were nothing short of amazing.

Now, I’ve heard a lot about the Lynchburger side box, and would love to try one myself at some point, so I made sure to choose two elements from it.

Let’s just say I was not disappointed.

The criss cross fries had a crunch and a bit of a kick (Emily Sleight/ Liverpool ECHO)

These are some of the best side dishes I have ever had, the flavours were strong, different, unique, and I wanted more!

The blue cheese criss cross fries were just the right amount of cheesy, with a nice kick of spice as an aftertaste.

They were crunchy, but not dry, and once again perfectly seasoned.

But let’s talk about the main event, the truffled hash browns, because they were by far my favourite.

I couldn't get over how amazing the Truffled Hash Browns were! (Emily Sleight/ Liverpool ECHO)

The golden crunchy hash browns tasted like proper hash browns, they weren’t soggy or damp, they were crisp and bursting with flavour.

That, combined with the truffle infused ketchup and rosemary salt and I was beyond amazed at this creation.

The verdict

I’ve definitely never tasted, or came across anything like Lynchburger in my 26-years of life, it’s different, it’s got a bit of attitude, pizzazz.

I can’t quite confirm that they are selling the best burgers in the UK, after all, the UK is a big place, but they’re definitely up there in my eyes.

The unique flavour combinations have edge, and the sides are enough to win me over.

Which is why I’m giving Lynchburger a solid 5/5. I will definitely be returning.
