After months of Prime being a scarce resource, I finally got my hands on multiple flavours of the hydration drink.
The drink endorsed by Logan Paul and KSI has flown off shelves in the UK since its launch last year. The ECHO has reported on ‘barneys’ at supermarkets selling the drink and some newsagents charging £12 per bottle.
Therefore, I was intrigued when I discovered Aldi had restocked the drink. I visited an Aldi in Liverpool City Centre early this morning and was anticipating seeing shoppers desperate to get their hands on the drink.

However, there were no signs of this, with only me and one other customer in the quiet supermarket buying the drink. The Prime was kept in its own trolley by the tills and I was restricted to buying one of each flavour, but the hydration drink seemingly isn’t attracting as much hype as a few months ago.
I wasn’t a fan of the Lemon Lime flavour when I tried it a few months ago, but I decided to go in with an open mind and see if there were any flavours that did catch my fancy. Lemon Lime was first up, and I still didn't like the bitter aftertaste that came with it.
I much preferred Ice Pop, which is made up of cherry, lime and blue raspberry. It tasted like a Haribo strawb sweet and therefore it might become one of my regular drinks.
Tropical Punch had a similar sweet flavour, but was less exciting in my opinion than Ice Pop. It was much more preferable than Blue Raspberry, which was incredibly plain and didn’t have strong undertones of raspberry at all.
The KSI Limited Edition Orange and Mango has striking black packaging with pattern. This is in contrast with the bright colours of the other bottles.
Celebrating KSI’s British roots, the description reads: “Prime is now in the UK! We’re thrilled to be here on KSI’s home turf. From Leeds to London, we’re bringing refreshment right to your home turf.”
However, the hype of its packaging isn’t matched by its taste. There’s nothing wrong with it, but nothing unique about it either in my opinion.
Finally, there was Meta Moon. There is no indication of what the flavour is until you look on the side, where it claims the drink is candy fruit flavoured.
Again, the intriguing packaging, this time space-themed, didn’t match the taste. There was a definite candy flavour, but it was overwhelmed by the unpleasant candy smell.
Overall, most of these drinks were not to my liking. Some Prime drinks feel watered down, while others are unnecessarily overpowering.
However, I would buy the Ice Pop again. Having a sweet flavoured hydration drink might be a healthier option than eating sweets - or at least feels healthier.
I was most grateful for the price - six drinks came to £11.37, which works out at the RRP of £1.99 each. If Prime has become easier and cheaper to buy, maybe Prime Ice Pop will become a regular purchase for me.
