I tried Shein's £29 Dyson Air Wrap dupe - and I was pretty scared before I did

I decided to purchase the SHEIN five in one Multifunction Electric Hair Comb after seeing amazing reviews online to compare it to the Dyson Airwrap multi-styler.

I live and breathe the Dyson Air Wrap so my expectations before trying the SHEIN dupe were not high to say the least.

After opening the SHEIN dupe, I was surprised at how similar it looked to the Dyson Air Wrap. The major differences I noticed straight away were the difference in colour, the styling attachments and buttons.

The SHEIN dupe was purple and black with only five attachments, whereas the Dyson Air Wrap is pink and grey with eight attachments. The SHEIN dupe also only has a on/off power button which I didn’t like as there was no option for heat and strength of the styler unlike the Dyson Air Wrap.

The SHEIN dupe is being sold online for £28.75, while the Dyson Air Wrap is being sold for £479.99 currently. This means you could save £451.24 if you opted for the SHEIN dupe.

Here's what I thought

In comparison to the Dyson dupe, the SHEIN five in one took much longer to wrap my hair around the barrel as the suction wasn't as strong so it took a lot longer to curl. Straight away, it was noticeable that the SHEIN dupe didn't produce as bouncy or curly curls like the Dyson does, they were more of a flick.

The barrel on the SHEIN dupe got extremely hot which was a worry as at times I had visions of my hair being glued to the barrel but thankfully that didn’t happen. One online SHEIN review says: “When you change styling nozzles be careful it's hot, use gloves.”

Overall, the Dyson Air Wrap is definitely the winner but for £28, the SHEIN dupe is a cheaper alternative and would work better on shorter hair.

The five in one Multifunction Electric Hair Comb is rated 4.63 on SHEIN and does in fact have hundreds of five star reviews. One review says: “So fantastic! Works so good.” while a second added: “As it appears in the photos, super delighted! It world perfectly, amazing for its price.”

I'd rate the SHEIN version a 2/5.
