There’s a lot to consider when choosing a puffer jacket. Is it waterproof? Is it fleece-lined? And, most importantly, will it protect you from the relentless English chill? Luckily, during testing, I found that Oodie’s classic puffer ticks all three boxes, wrapping me up in a comforting cocoon of warmth without making me feel like I’d stepped out looking like a human marshmallow.
I’m a particularly cold person, and winter is by far my least favourite of the four seasons, so I’m a harsh critic when it comes to my winter coat rotation. Thankfully, the Oodie puffer delivers a noticeable level of warmth, bringing the brand’s signature fleece-like cosiness to your outdoor wear. The coat filling provides plenty of insulation for chilly days, while the soft lining adds that familiar, duvet-like comfort you’d expect from Oodie.
Even better, it runs throughout the sleeves, so there’s no unpleasant blast of cold when you slip your arms inside. The fleece-lined pockets are another small but welcome detail, especially when your hands are freezing and your gloves are left as an afterthought.
Despite its warmth, the jacket doesn’t feel overly bulky. The relaxed unisex fit leaves plenty of room for layering without restricting movement, while the adjustable hem can be tightened to stop cold air sneaking underneath. Ribbed cuffs with thumbholes provide extra coverage around the hands, and the high neck adds another welcome barrier against biting winds.
It also proved to be practical in typical autumn weather. Oodie claims that the puffer has 5K water resistance, so it can handle light rain without becoming a soggy mess, which is essential for anyone living through the unpredictable British forecast. The adjustable hood can be tightened using the toggles, although it isn’t particularly oversized, so it won’t offer much protection for your face during heavier downpours.
Aesthetically, I’m also a fan of the chocolate colour. It’s a versatile neutral that feels more interesting than the usual black or navy, and works easily with casual winter outfits. If brown isn’t quite your style, there are seven other colourways to choose from, including a particularly fun black option with a leopard-print lining.

Is the Oodie chocolate classic puffer jacket worth it?
For anyone who hates the cold as much as I do, I’d say the Oodie puffer is well worth considering. It manages to combine the comfort and cosiness the brand is known for, with the practicality you actually need from an everyday winter coat. The 200gsm fill, fleece lining and water-resistant outer make it a nice option for chilly commutes without feeling excessively bulky.
While the hood could offer a little more coverage in heavy rain, this is a relatively minor drawback. Ultimately, if you’re looking for a cushioned puffer that can see you through the colder months, this one has earned its place in my winter rotation.
