I tried McDonald's new Spicy Big Tasty and it felt like a slap in the face

Earlier this week McDonald’s announced a flurry of new products as part of their latest iteration of their menu. One of the newest additions is the reimagining of a classic by spicing up the popular Big Tasty.

With the newest menu dropping today (May 10), we headed down to our local McDonald’s to see what the fuss is about and if the new burger is as spicy as promoted.

McDonald’s are on a streak of releasing spicy new meals and with the success of their impressive chicken burger, the McSpicy, I was looking forward to trying out the new Spicy Big Tasty with a jalapeno twist. After all, making a burger spicy is hardly exciting or daring. Unfortunately, the sandwich set me back £6.29 which I thought was incredibly steep for a burger on its own.

Once I opened the box, the price felt like an even bigger slap to the face. The presentation of the burger was poor and half of the salad and bacon was sliding off the burger as soon as I picked it out of the box.

Everything that you would want from the meal was there, a large beef burger with crispy lettuce, tomatoes, and that signature Big Tasty sauce, albeit with an ever so slight kick to it.

But in all honesty, you could have probably given me a regular Big Tasty and I wouldn’t have noticed any difference. Overall, a very mediocre experience that definitely wasn’t worth the price.
