You may have missed McDonald’s limited time only items such as the Steakhouse Stack. The good news is however: there’s more limited time only products that have just been released and Community Reporter Keimae Blake gave them the ‘taste test’
McDonald's very rarely fails to deliver when it comes to its limited-time menu items - with its recent Steakhouse Stack leaving me wishing I'd had more chances to order it. But with the changing seasons does come new items - and this Spring's changes went down a treat.
While Tuesday, May 9, was the last chance for a Steakhouse or Chicken Big Mac, Wednesday, May 10, brings the return of the Big Tasty, along with halloumi fries and a new Wispa McFlurry. For my lunch, it was only right to get a Maccies and try the limited time only products.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned before that the McCrispy meal is my go-to when ordering a Maccies and although the Big Tasty has been on the menus before, I’ve never had it. Going to the McDonald’s that’s recently announced it will be closing in the summer, on Exchange Walk, I wondered what to expect from the recently added items. I ordered a medium Big Tasty meal that came with fries and I chose a bottle of water as my drink which came up to £6.77 - but it was the halloumi fries I was most looking forward to tucking into.
I love halloumi. Whether it’s a halloumi salad with sweet chilli sauce, a halloumi burger or just simply halloumi by itself, it’s always on my shopping list. My kiosk kept playing up, not letting me add things into the basket resulting in me having to re-add things again (first world problems, I know) but once it was finally sorted, it wasn’t long until my order number was called out.
The Big Tasty burger consists of a beef patty, Big Tasty sauce, lettuce, Big Tasty cheese, a slice of tomato, onions all sandwiched in between a classic sesame seed bun. Biting into my burger, the meat was just as you’d expect from McDonald’s beefy, juicy and succulent.
The lettuce and onions gave a nice crunch to the burger but I still prefer the Steakhouse Stack. My halloumi fries weren’t thickly coated, they had a slight tang but were without a doubt addictive, they were so nice I didn’t even need the rich tomato dip that comes with them. For cheese lovers, you don’t have to get 4 halloumi sticks for £2.69; you can get a 'share' box of 12 for £6.99.
The halloumi fries are the sides replacing the just-as-good mozzarella dippers. I’d be happy if both halloumi fries and mozzarella dippers were welcomed to the menu all year round.
All in all, the Big Tasty Meal was an 8/10. The burger was nice but it hasn’t made me want to rush back for another, the halloumi fries on the other hand are a 10/10.
