Deliveroo recently revealed Liverpool's most popular takeaway orders and I couldn't wait to go and try the top one on the list.
Kokoro on Church Street came up trumps with their chicken katsu curry. So I happily ventured down to sample the famous meal. I am a katsu curry lover myself, so I was more than up for the task. I’ve been to Kokoro on many occasions, but usually go for the sushi over the katsu curry simply because I think that the sushi there is also excellent.
I really love the vibe of the restaurant itself. The atmosphere there is always welcoming and it wasn’t too busy.

As I ate my meal more people started filtering in for the lunchtime rush, but as there is a seating area upstairs, thankfully there is plenty of room.
I have a long and happy history with the little eatery. I’ve been going there since my teen years (I’m now in my mid twenties) and I even took my girlfriend there for our first date in 2021.
This fond memory in particular was in my mind as I ordered. Along with the famous curry, I also picked up a seaweed and a coca-cola alongside it, but that just highlights how much is on offer there.
The total came to £12.60. I clearly went a little overboard in my excitement, and some might consider that price a little on the expensive side, but I think that since I got three items that price isn’t too bad.
If you were ordering it, the delivery cost would bring the price up a little bit, but I still believe it to be well worth the money.
It’s also worth noting that the portion size of the curry is always excellent. Granted, when you finish the chicken on top it is slightly hard to finish off the rice, but the curry is always delicious and I’ve never had any issues with it.
Overall, I am very unsurprised that it topped the list of most ordered meals on Deliveroo. I’d order from there every day if I could.
