Artisan chocolatier, The Cocoa Tree, have teamed up with Tequila Rose to create flavoured eggs for Easter.

Often at Easter we stick to the old faithfuls such as hollow chocolate eggs and bunnies as well as Cadbury's iconic Creme Eggs but why not make these treats alcoholic too.
I'm not a big drinker, my tipple of choice tend to be fruity gins, cocktails or the odd cider, but shots are definitely not a usual pick for me – especially not tequila.
Tequila Rose is slightly less intimidating, as it mixes a strawberry cream liqueur with the famous Mexican beverage to give a much softer flavour. While this is much more in line with my palate it's still not a drink I gravitate towards, with the pink drink reminding me slightly of Teletubby custard.
That being said, I'm all for alcohol infused treats, so was more than happy to give this tequila concoction a go.
Cocoa Tree's eggs are a filled chocolate egg, similar to the Cadbury's Creme Eggs but are immediately set apart by their appearance, as the artisan chocolate matches Tequila Rose's striking pink and black packaging.
Each egg is hand splattered in pink and black colouring, making them totally Instagrammable and even more enticing.
I nervously took a bite, half expecting the familiar punch of the Mexican drink to appear, but I was pleasantly surprised as the overwhelming taste was simply the milk chocolate of the egg's shell.
My other concern was what consistency the inside cream would be, anticipating a runny texture, but to my delight the egg was filled with a thick ganache and fondant that was thicker than Cadbury's.
This was when the strawberry and tequila flavours started to take over as the ganache is made from white chocolate and of course, Tequila Rose.
After the first bite, the 35% Belgian chocolate shell held up pretty well, not cracking around the joining line that runs along the sides of the egg. However, it quickly collapsed as I ate more, leaving it a little hard to wrangle if you're trying to eat it delicately at your desk.
As for the tequila, the overall taste was very minimal but it was undeniably noticeable in certain bites - I think this comes from the fact that Tequila Rose itself is mainly strawberry flavoured, which is half of the appeal.
Personally, I'm someone who hates my alcohol to taste too bitter or honestly boozy at all, so I totally understand the appeal of the cream drink. Its subtle flavour translates well into the chocolate egg, giving just enough for a little kick within the strawberry sweetness.
Each box, which is a very fitting pink egg carton, contains six Tequila Rose Creme Eggs and retails for £16.50 - slightly more than your average Easter egg, but that's usually the case with artisan chocolate. The eggs are available exclusively through Cocoa Tree's website.
I'd definitely have these again, although due to how sweet they are I wouldn't have a boxful to myself but this is probably a good thing as it might slow me down as I dive into all the Easter chocolate.
