"I tried a hidden farm shop cafe that serves the West Country's best all-day breakfast"

Eating out with little ones is never easy. Going anywhere with your little angel requires lots of planning.

Do you have enough nappies, toys, snacks? Are they teething today, are they likely to kick-off, is there going to be a Code Brown situation? By the time you've finally left the house, you're then left wondering where on Earth you can take them that has baby-friendly facilities.

Needless to say, it's a headache. So whenever I take my one-year-old out for the day, I like it to be as easy as possible, reports Somerset Live.

A wholesome farm shop cafe seemed to be the safest bet, and seeing as my little boy was in a good mood that day, I decided to take the plunge and venture out.

Farrington's Farm Shop and Cafe is situated just off the A37 in Farrington Gurney, and takes around 30 minutes to travel drive to from Bristol city centre.. As well the shop and cafe, it boasts a fish and chip shop, a gift shop, a hair salon, a huge outdoor play area, and a soft play barn.

Hosting 'pick your own' events throughout the year, the cafe is like a miniature village all on its own - perfect for a family-friendly day out.

I've been to Farrington's a few times to attend events such as pumpkin picking and sunflower picking, but I've never tried the cafe - although it's always looked appealing. But today was the day - and with both baby and changing bag in hand, I walked boldly through the door and silently willed my little boy to behave.

Luckily for me, he had a big smile on his face and immediately caught the attention of the staff, who brought over a high chair for him straight away.

When His Majesty was safely sat down, I quickly perused the menu and ordered a cappuccino and the all-day vegetarian farmhouse breakfast.

The menu wasn't expansive, but everything on it looked tempting. There was also a decent kids menu - so I ordered chips, sausage and beans for my little one.

After frantically searching the car for an emergency dummy, my husband came in slightly bedraggled - but victorious - and ordered the Korean BBQ pulled pork burger and a coffee.

My little boy got busy making faces and trying to get the attention of every passer-by as we gratefully drank our coffees, enjoying a tiny moment of peace.

Thankfully, before he got time to get bored, our food arrived. His little face lit up when he saw his plate - a generous portion of food served with his very own plastic spoon.

I nicked a few chips off his plate (to make sure they weren't too hot of course) and I can confirm they were some of the best chips I've ever had - they tasted like the proper homecooked ones I used to get when I was little.

My meal didn't look too bad either. My plate was rammed with a whole host of delights - two vegetarian sausages, toast, beans, mushrooms, on the vine cherry tomatoes, two eggs with beautiful golden yolks and some extra thick potato scallops.

Everything on my plate was divine - the vegetarian sausages were jam-packed with flavour, and the eggs were perfectly cooked with no grease at all. In fact, this was probably the least greasy breakfast I've ever had.

My husbands Korean BBQ pulled pork burger was huge - and came served with a mountain of chips, homemade coleslaw and a side salad. And although he made more mess than our little one while eating it, he seemed to enjoy it as he kept nodding to himself with quiet satisfaction.

I was surprised to see he couldn't finish all his chips, but I was more than happy to step in and hoover up what he left. And despite inexplicably refusing to eat his beans, my little boy did pretty well with his sausage and chips.

We didn't have room for anything else, but I did notice the table next to us had ordered the afternoon tea which looked incredible - definitely a good option for a family get-together or celebration.

Before we headed home, my husband took our little boy to the indoor soft play area while I browsed the farm shop.

The shop has an amazing range of food, gifts, fresh eggs, cheese and milk, and even some scrummy cakes and traybakes. I could have spent all day in there - but my responsibilities were calling and my little monkey was due a nap.

I'd give that breakfast a solid 10/10, and Farrington's is definitely a good option if you're looking for a family-friendly day out. For more information, click here.
