'I transformed our cupboard under the stairs into the ultimate gaming room for my man'

It's always a lovely feeling to receive a thoughtful and personal birthday present, and it's even better when the gifter has put time and effort into making it for you.

One girlfriend has knocked it out of the park this year with a truly fantastic gift for her boyfriend's birthday, transforming their once ordinary cupboard under the stairs into a full-blown gaming room.

Showing a fair bit of imagination and flair, Chloe Durns fitted out the previously bare space with black walls and red LED lighting, even decorating one wall with three framed illustrations of Spider-Man.

Kitted out with everything boyfriend Brandon might need ahead of a serious Call of Duty session, the former cupboard includes a desk and gaming chair, with what looks to be a scented candle lending a homely touch.

Chloe has since shared the dramatic before and after transformation via TikTok, where it has been liked more than 14,000 times at the time of writing.

Many have been impressed by the thought and effort which went into Chloe's gift, with one commenter hailing it as "the best birthday present ever".

Another joked that they'd "legit never see my boyfriend again if I did this, just be opening the door to throw snacks in", while a third advised, "This is adorable! Make sure there is enough ventilation in the door or an air purifier".

The biggest fan of the transformation was, of course, giftee Brandon, who commented "You’re the best" beneath the nifty home makeover video. In response, loved-up Chloe replied with an equally adoring series of heart emojis.

Although some people have responded negatively to the gift - wondering why Brandon had been 'forced' into a small area when he "should be able to have any room" - Chloe has been quick to point out that he had previously requested that room specifically, and that she had simply surprised him with the new decor.

As Chloe explained, they live in a two-bedroom house with a baby and so having a bit of separate space for Brandon to call his own was actually an ideal solution.
