Making drastic changes to your home doesn't have to cost a fortune if you know where to shop.
One savvy woman has been commended for making a huge change to her council estate kitchen – without having to break the bank.
Emily Gardner, from Heckmondwike in West Yorkshire, showed off the incredible results on her TikTok page @grexnyy, and it's now been seen by more than 412k people.
In the video, she explained: "Transformed my council kitchen on a budget. Out with the old, in with the new."
Viewers were shown a very outdated kitchen, featured tired-looking yellow tiles, which she said she "hates", dull black worktops and wooden cupboards.
In the "after" pictures, the kitchen looks totally unrecognisable, and she managed to do it all by making some "small changes" to make "big improvements". She added :"B&M bargains doing bits."
Speaking to The Mirror, Emily said: "It took me about three to four hours, but I was doing other house bits in between."
Emily "hated the look" of her kitchen and decided she wanted something more modern. She added: "I was always just going into the kitchen and my house just felt gloomy and dead so I just wanted to bring it to life a little."
The kitchen looked totally transformed with grey, marble-effect worktops, grey cupboards and tiles – totalling to a very affordable £130.
Emily explained that she paid £100 for the stick-on tiles and just £30 for the vinyl. Although she adds that she could "probably have done it much cheaper if I bought materials from Amazon or something".
Instead of forking out a fortune on tiles and getting someone to fit them, she bought the chic stick-on tiles from B&M bargains, at £10 for a pack of five.
On the cupboards and worktop, the woman used vinyl stickers from B&Q, which costs £5.50 for a 2m roll.
In the comment section, the woman explained that it was "very easy" to do, but to be careful because they are "very sticky" and "time consuming" which can be frustrating.
TikTokers were very impressed by Emily's handiwork, with one person saying: "This is amazing! It looks a lot bigger now, well done."
Another said: "Not my personal style but I think it looks amazing for what you were working with and that you've done it all yourself."
A third added: "Looks absolutely beautiful love the texture."
