'I told you' - Liam Smith sends blunt Chris Eubank Jr knockout message and eyes dream Anfield night

Liam Smith insists his stoppage victory over Chris Eubank Jr should come as no surprise and has set his sights on fighting at Anfield.

Eubank Jr had been unbeaten since 2018 but suffered the first stoppage defeat of his career at the hands of Smith at the AO Arena in Manchester on Saturday night.

Smith, who came into the fight as the underdog, despite formerly reigning as a super-welterweight world champion, produced a stunning knockout in round four to send his fans wild.

And reflecting on the win post-fight, Smith believes despite Eubank having a reputation of having a great chin, the Brighton man was always in danger of being knocked out.

He said: “I don't know if it was one shot or an accumulation, but I told you all week. A lot got made of Chris' great chin.

“I've got a great chin, but there's many fighters with better chins who have been knocked out in the past. I told you all week, don't be surprised, nobody can not be hurt."

BOXXER chief Ben Shalom confirmed after the fight a rematch clause is in place, should Eubank decide to activate it.

But when asked who he would like to fight next, Smith said: “Anyone at Anfield. But like I said before it puts me in a good position now, with Chris' ranking at 160lbs.

"Obviously, and I don't know how this will go down, but I can go back to 154lbs if necessary, we'll see what happens,"

And when asked about a rematch with Eubank, Smith replied: "I think he's probably going to have to think about it and have to talk about it right away.

"It's kind of an ego and a pride thing. He's not going to say, 'Well, I don't want that rematch, I've just been knocked out'.

"But we might get a different answer when he's sat and thought about it and watched it back. He'll sit down with his team and his family and he'll decide if he wants that rematch.

"If he wants that rematch I'll give him it. I beat him once so I'll beat him twice."
