Missouri mother Mariah Thomas, 28, was sentenced on Tuesday, 22 September, to 13 years in prison over her one-month-old daughter's death in Kansas City.

She pleaded guilty to first-degree endangering the welfare of a child resulting in death, while a first-degree murder charge was dismissed. A relative said Thomas thought she had put the baby in her crib.
