Come on, Can-Am, you could've called me.
I mean, I live maybe 20 minutes away from Ain't Care Acres. I have experience driving side-by-sides, specifically Can-Am's, fast. I know how to wheel an ATV, too. And I've literally been talking about my bow and hunting for the past three months. I could've dominated this competition!
Yes, Travis Pastrana, Terry Madden, Lia and Lucy Block, as well as a host of other Can-Am athletes showed up and have more rally seat time. But I could've smoked them during the archery competitions. At least, that's what I'm going to keep telling myself since I won't actually have the opportunity to test whether the stress of competition, especially against those folks, would cripple me.
Maybe it was a good thing Can-Am didn't text me...
The whole challenge is part of Can-Am's The Great Off-Road Showdown and pits the aforementioned athletes against one another at Ken Block's Ain't Care Acres, the current home to his family. Along with Pastrana and the Blocks, desert racer Terry Madden, former UFC fighter Cowboy Cerrone, Hailie Deegan, Kolt Gene, and Dale Brisby also joined in on the fun.
Along with an archery competition, they also threw axes, rustled up some fake steers in a lasso competition, and raced a handful of Can-Am's off-roaders, including the company's ATVs.
What's cool about this action-packed competition is that the playing field is pretty level. Yes, everyone involved has varying degrees of rally experience, with a few professionals like Pastrana, Lucy and Lia, but the rest know how to wheel, too. And the side challenges help by taking time off their races, so someone like Cerrone who knows his way around a bow can potentially get himself to within Pastrana's time.
This, however, is only part 1 of the series. More are set to be released soon. But again, COME ON, CAN-AM, I'M WAITING FOR THE CALL!? Maybe next year?
