Ping’s G Le4 family is the fourth generation of a range that has been a popular choice for female golfers since 2017. Designed specifically for swing speeds of 80mph or less, the lightweight range offers a complete, full-bag setup. Having played the G Le3 iron, I was keen to test this latest launch and see how its updated iron technology compares on the course.
Aesthetically, Ping has hit the mark with the new purple colourway, it feels modern, sophisticated, and sleek. One of my favourite visual updates is the shaft: moving away from the two-tone white and blue design of the G Le3 to a single, solid colour. Looking down at address with just that clean, uniform shade showing creates a streamlined, classy view over the ball. I also like the tacky Golf Pride grips as they sat comfortably and securely in my hands.
Technologically, Ping has engineered these stainless-steel irons as a lightweight iron/hybrid combo solution to ensure seamless set gapping. They feature a thinner face, a lower centre of gravity, and custom-engineered lofts to maximise ball speed, while high-density tip and toe weights push forgiveness right to the perimeter. Tucked behind the face is a multi-material PurFlex cavity badge to encourage consistent face flexing while delivering a soft, pleasing feel and sound at impact.
I found that this engineering translates into an exceptionally lightweight feel that makes the clubs effortless to swing. You can simply let the clubhead do the work without feeling the need to force power behind the ball. Forgiveness is impressive; my off-centre flew surprisingly straight and maintained consistent distance.

Where I noticed a genuine leap, however, was on pure strikes. When I hit the ball right out of the sweet spot, my carry distance was noticeably further than with the G Le3. It wasn't an absurd jump, but it was a distinct, repeatable increase, and I can promise you that was strictly down to the clubs, not a sudden improvement in my swing!
As for the wedges (PW, UW, SW), while the sand wedge was the undisputed star of the show in the G Le3 line-up, the G Le4 wedges share the spotlight more evenly with the rest of the irons this time around. Their clean profile and comfortable feel gave me a lot of confidence over tricky short game shots, making getting up and down feel far less intimidating!
Ping continues to deliver thoughtful engineering that makes the game feel far more accessible. If you're in the market for one of the best golf irons for women on the market, the G Le4 family deserves a very close look.
