'I take responsibility' - Phil Neville facing crucial Inter Miami period

Former Manchester United defender Phil Neville insists his Inter Miami side have what it takes to climb the MLS table despite suffering a sixth successive loss.

The David Beckham owned team fell to yet another defeat this weekend at Houston Dynamos. Daniel Steres' second half strike proved the difference. Miami had 20 shots over the course of the 90 minutes but rarely troubled Steve Clark in the Dynamos' goal.

Speaking after the match, Neville admitted things need to change quickly for his side. "You're right, we need to start winning," Neville told reporters in Texas. "We can't hide behind the fact that a six-game [losing run] is good enough.

"It's nowhere near good enough for what we want for this football club. I take full responsibility for that and the consequences that come my way.

"But I believe 100 per cent that we can start winning, we can start getting wins on the table, we can start climbing the table. I've got belief in the players we've got. I see it. I see it every day in training, I saw it tonight more than ever."

While Neville may have plenty of confidence in the Herons' players, pressure is mounting on the ex-United man. Miami sit second bottom of the Eastern Conference table, five points adrift of the Final Series spots.

Next up for Neville's men is a US Open Cup clash against city rivals Miami FC on Thursdy. They return to the MLS at the weekend to take on Columbus.
