As a self-confessed sleep fidgeter, I’ve always found it challenging to find a mattress that supports multiple sleeping positions. Throw two c-sections into the mix, plus the fact that I’m a hot sleeper, and it’s fair to say I’m not the easiest critic. In my Simba hybrid pro mattress review, I reveal whether it ticks all my boxes: support for side and front sleepers, cloud-like softness around sensitive areas of the body and adequate breathability to keep me cool through the night.
The hybrid pro has a blend of cooling memory foam and pocket springs, plus an added layer of aerocoil springs. These are titanium microsprings placed near the top of the mattress, designed to offer more precise support. Simba says they also help draw air upwards, creating a cooler sleep environment and a more comfortable night’s rest, so as a hot sleeper I’ve put this to the test.
Of course, I also had to consider my husband’s sleep needs and, as he’s a hot sleeper too, the hybrid pro’s cooling credentials were a definite selling point. After months of nightly use, here’s how it’s performed, from delivery to the present day.

How I tested the hybrid pro mattress
.png)
During the two-month testing period, I focusing on the following criteria:
- Delivery and setup: I assessed how easy the boxed mattress was to transport through the house and up the stairs, how straightforward it was to unbox and position, and how long it took to fully expand.
- Comfort: I logged my sleep quality over the testing period, considering pressure relief, ease of movement and how rested I felt each morning. I used my Garmin smart watch to monitor my deep, light and REM sleep patterns to help determine overall sleep improvement.
- Support: I paid particular attention to spinal alignment in both side and front sleeping positions.
- Motion transfer: I monitored how much movement travelled across the mattress when sharing the bed with my husband and used a glass of water to test how much pressure it could handle.
- Temperature regulation: As a hot sleeper, I focused on whether the mattress reduced overheating and maintained airflow overnight.
I slept on the Simba hybrid pro every night for eight weeks, alongside my husband. I’m primarily a side sleeper, but I often roll onto my front, while my husband is a back and side sleeper, so I paid close attention to how it supported all positions.
Beyond initial comfort, I assessed temperature regulation, ease of movement, motion transfer and how the mattress felt over time. I also considered practical factors, such as how simple it was to get into the bedroom, how heavy it was to manoeuvre and whether rotating it felt manageable. You can read more about my in-depth testing process at the end of this guide.

Initial thoughts
When the mattress arrived, I was genuinely surprised by how compact the box was. Thanks to its vacuum-packed design, it was far smaller than I’d expected for a king size – this makes a real difference if you’re navigating tight hallways or staircases. I’d never owned a bed-in-a-box before, so unwrapping it and watching it gradually expand felt oddly satisfying.

It didn’t take long to take shape and resemble a full-sized king mattress – straight away, it looked substantial and well-made. It was also weighty to manoeuvre, which is something to bear in mind. I did notice a faint new mattress smell (which I would have expected), however, this quickly subsided after a day or two.
I was slightly apprehensive about sleeping on it the same evening (roughly eight hours after delivery) as I didn’t want to compromise its structure or long-term support. Thankfully, that wasn’t a problem. It felt properly expanded, supportive and comfortable from the very first night, with a noticeable improvement in my sleep almost immediately. The included mattress guide advised that the mattress will continue to expand for up to 48 hours.
Overview
Simba’s hybrid pro is the brand’s bestselling mattress and comes with outstanding customer reviews, so it’s safe to say it had a lot to live up to. It’s got some appealing features including eight layers, 4,800 springs and design elements that claim to regulate body temperature and support the body throughout the night. On paper, the design covers all my needs as a hot sleeper who still wants comfortable yet effective support, so does it live up to the hype?
Overall testing the hybrid pro mattress over a two-month period has been seamless. Simba’s cooling technologies are one of the standout pros for me. From the special simbatex foam, infused with graphite to help move heat away from the body and promote airflow, to the cool-touch cover and natural wool top layer, the difference compared with a standard memory foam mattress was evident from night one.
As a busy mum who also works full-time, anything that improves my sleep is a wine. After months of use, I can see why this mattress is so highly rated.
Firmness and pressure relief
The design combines Simba’s unique simbatex foam (mentioned above) with more than 3,000 microsprings positioned at the top of the mattress, which individually adapt to your body and movements. While springs being so near to the surface may sound off-putting, I can’t feel these at all whilst lying or sitting on the mattress, but I can definitely feel a responsiveness in whatever sleeping position I’m in. There’s minimal delay in the mattress regaining its shape and no ‘sunken in’ feeling that I’ve experienced with other memory foam mattresses.
In terms of feel, its medium-firm category is spot on. When you first lie down, there’s a soft cushioning effect, which feels light against my relatively sensitive stomach area following two abdominal surgeries, but you can quickly feel there is structured support underneath. The springs give it a slight bounce, which makes changing position easy and stops it from feeling flat.
Sleeping on my side, I feel supported through my shoulders and hips without sinking. Then, when on my front, it keeps my midsection lifted, which prevents lower-back strain.
The mattress still feels as consistent on the surface as when I first slept on it, with no obvious dips or soft patches. Overall, the mattress feels thoughtfully constructed without being overly bulky and, thanks to its temperature-regulating features, is clearly designed with airflow and hot sleepers in mind.
Edge support
I feel secure when perched on the end of the Simba hybrid pro mattress. There is a small amount of dipping in the top foam layers, as you’d expect, but it quickly regains its shape once you stand and I never feel as though I am slipping.
Temperature regulation
The biggest surprise for me was just how much of a difference the temperature regulation made. Unlike traditional memory foam, which can sometimes feel dense or stuffy, the “simbatex” layer encourages air circulation, with the brand claiming five-times more than regular memory foam. This special foam is infused with graphite to draw heat away from the body and features more open foam cells, which help increase breathability. So, did this help me as a hot sleeper?
Before switching, I’d regularly wake up throughout the night feeling overheated. Since upgrading my mattress to the hybrid pro, that’s no longer the case. While it doesn’t feel cold, it avoids the trapped-heat feeling I experienced with previous memory foam mattresses. I generally feel I am getting a deeper night’s sleep and not constantly shifting around trying to cool down.

On the top of hybrid pro, there’s a breathable wool top layer to help fresh air flow through, topped with the stratos ‘cool-touch’ cover. ‘Stratos’ is another of Simba’s thermoregulating technologies and used in many of the brand’s pillows, claiming to be up to 3C cooler than untreated fabric. A bonus is that the cover is removable too, making cleaning much easier than spot-washing a fixed cover.
With so many cooling features and materials infused into the mattress, it’s hard to tell which of them is doing its individual job, but there’s no denying that I felt an immediate improvement in my body temperature from night one.

Motion transfer
If you have a particularly fidgety partner (such as myself), you may feel them move during the night. I didn’t personally feel any disruption when testing the Simba hybrid pro, but my husband is a light sleeper and said he could occasionally sense me changing sleeping positions.

I also tried the glass test to see how much pressure the mattress could handle before tipping the glass. Movement was minimal and it only really shifted when the glass was positioned within a few inches of me. Taking both into account, I’d say the mattress does a good job of minimising motion in general. However, don’t expect it to be completely motionless if you share your bed with a partner.
Maintenance
One of the benefits of the hybrid pro is its cool-touch cover, which zips off for easy maintenance. This makes washing and cleaning particularly easy as I can pop it in the washing machine on a 40C cycle and air dry.
In terms of maintaining the shape and support of the mattress long-term, it requires rotation every three months; however, Simba recommends rotating monthly for the first three months. I personally find the mattress on the heavier side and have found this is a two-person job (although my husband may disagree).

Your questions about the Simba hybrid pro answered
Is the Simba hybrid pro mattress worth it?
If a cool, restful night’s sleep is high on your priority list, the Simba hybrid pro may be the mattress for you. With a long list of sleep criteria, I was prepared for the mattress not to meet the mark on every one, but I’ve been thoroughly impressed on all fronts. Even my Garmin watch agrees, showing a noticeable increase in deep sleep.
I would say that hot sleepers are at the forefront of the design, offering multiple features to improve breathability for overnight comfort, which has to be my most noticeable pro about the mattress.
It also often meets a tricky middle ground between plush comfort and reliable support. Personally, I think the 200-night trial adds reassurance, with plenty of time to test it across different seasons.
It’s not lightweight once inflated and the medium-firm tension may not be for those who prefer a softer firmness, but if you want a mattress that feels supportive yet hugs all the contours of the body, and is also fairly reasonably priced, Simba’s hybrid pro is definitely worth considering.
What are the disadvantages of the hybrid pro mattress?
From my experience, there are very few negatives to the Simba hybrid pro. It’s exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort and temperature regulation, and I genuinely haven’t slept this well in years.
If I had to pick one disadvantage, it would be the weight. Once fully expanded, the mattress is on the heavier side. As it features a foam top layer, Simba recommends rotating it regularly to maintain even wear, which may require an extra pair of hands to make the job easier.
Beyond that, the medium-firm feel may not suit everyone, particularly if you prefer a soft, sink-in style mattress, but in terms of performance, I found little to fault.
