‘I still have glass in my hand,’ says Boston’s Marcus Smart of an injury from 2018 that still makes his hand numb

Boston Celtics veteran point guard Marcus Smart made a surprising revelation to the press after the Celtics 107 – 97 road win over the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night about his health — specifically a hand he’d injured previously in a fit of rage over some photos posted online back in 2018.

Smart rolled up to the postgame media session after the Pelicans win noticeably irritated with his hand, and fielded a question about what was bothering the Flower Mound native. Not a product of his play in that game, Smart explained it was a nagging issue dating back to that incident that saw him smash a picture frame with his hand in which the glass came very close to severing a tendon.

“(I) still have some glass in there,” shared Smart about the injury. “(The doctor) said it would probably cause more problems to take the glass out.”
