We all want to be there to watch our friends and family tie the knot, but sometimes, life gets in the way and you've got to make a choice about what you decide to prioritise.
And that's exactly what one mum had to do when she found out her boyfriend's grandma had fallen ill and didn't have much longer to live, and the family had to make a trip to see her as soon as possible - which meant she couldn't attend her cousin's wedding.
The mum said she wanted to go and support her boyfriend as well as take her child to meet their great-grandma, as they'd never met her before and potentially would never get the chance to if she didn't go to see her immediately.
After making the tough decision to drop out of her cousin's wedding, the woman sent her relative a text message to let her know ahead of time - but was met with a fuming bride who swore revenge.
The texts, which were shared on Reddit, see the woman tell her cousin that "something has come up" which means she can no longer attend the wedding with her boyfriend.
And when asked what "could possibly have come up", she responded: "His mum called last night and his grandma's not going good and doesn't have much longer to live. We're flying out today to be with her and his family."
The bride then asked why her boyfriend couldn't go alone so that she could go to the wedding by herself, but the woman refused, as she insisted she wants her child to meet their great-grandma.
She said: "Is that a serious question? We want her to see [our baby] who she hasn't met yet before she passes. His family is my family now too and I'm gonna be there for my boyfriend like any girlfriend would do.
"I get that you're mad and upset and I'm sorry. At least I let you know instead of just not showing up."
The apology didn't go down well with the bride though, who said she would get her revenge when the mum and her boyfriend tie the knot - as she'll "make sure something comes up" too.
She wrote back: "Well, when you and [your boyfriend] get married I'll make sure something comes up so I can do the same thing you're doing to me."
But the woman still wouldn't budge, as she simply said she wouldn't invite her cousin in the first place.
Commenters on the Reddit post were baffled by the bride's statements, as many of them said her big day isn't as important to other people as it is to her.
One person said: "I am absolutely shocked by this Bride's reply. How can someone justify saying something so unkind, this may be the last visit for this grandmother."
While another added: "Brides need to remember [that] it may be the most important day of your life but it isn't the most important day of your friend's life."
And a third posted: "And this is why I retired from being a bridesmaid a decade ago. People spend way too much time thinking that agreeing to be in or in the vicinity of their wedding trumps all else."
