'I should be' - Morgan Gibbs-White breaks silence on Wolves future amid Everton transfer links

Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White has admitted he is determined to prove his worth at his current employers amid speculation surrounding his future at Molineux Stadium.

Everton are among the teams to have been linked with the 22-year-old and reportedly saw a £25million bid rejected by the West Midlands club, who are reluctant to offload their academy graduate. Anthony Gordon has played alongside Gibbs-White for England U21s, meanwhile the Blues' director of football Kevin Thelwell knows the youngster from his own time at Wolves when the player was rising through the ranks.

Gibbs-White caught the eye during a season-long loan spell at Championship side Sheffield United last campaign, reaching double figures for both goals and assists as the Blades made the play-off places. It remains to be seen as to whether or not Everton step up their interest in the Stafford-born star in the weeks ahead, though the player himself appears relaxed regarding the situation.

Addressing his aims for the forthcoming season, Gibbs-White made clear he hopes to remain part of Bruno Lage's plans having returned to the club for pre-season following last year's loan move.

Asked to describe his main focus at this moment in time, he told Wolves TV : "Getting back fit, trying to prove to the manager why I should be here and why I want to play every week. It's mainly fitness and keeping that momentum going that I had last year. I feel like it's going to be a big season ahead for me, personally.

"I’ve matured as a player massively, on and off the field," added the English midfielder when reflecting on his time at Sheffield United. "Knowing when to recover, what foods to eat properly, it really does make a difference when you’re playing every week. Recovering properly, I really knuckled down on that last season. Just getting game time, it really gives you that experience that you need, knowing where the spaces are in games, finishing in front of crowds. I feel like that’s definitely improved my finishing. I’m looking to take it into next season."
