'I sent an inappropriate gift to my godson, his dad could not stop laughing'

A woman was left mortified after mistakenly sending her nine-year-old godson a gift that was not meant for him.

She had placed an order on Amazon to get him something nice for his birthday but did not check her basket before she ordered which left him with quite a surprise when he opened it.

On finding out what had happened, the boy's dad was left in absolute stitches and phoned the woman while howling with laughter.

However, his mum is much more strict and uptight so was not too happy at all to see the additional present their son had been given by his godmother.

In the Mumsnet post, the woman, who remained anonymous, explained: "I have a godson whose mother is lovely but very religious and a bit uptight.

"It’s his ninth birthday today. Long story short I placed an Amazon order to be delivered to their house, and he’s just opened it and it turns out that alongside the nice gifts I sent him, I accidentally included something else that was in my basket."

Instead of sending the boy just his gift, she also sent him a Valentine's present off Amazon that was not for him.

It was a novelty chocolate wrapper which combined letters from a Wispa bar, a Malteser packet, a Minstrels packet, a Flake, and the final letter of a Double Decker which, when combined, spelt 'w*****.'

"His dad (my friend) has just rung me howling with laughter, but the wife is apparently not at all amused," she said.

She is now warning others to check their baskets before ordering online.

In response, many found the funny side of this hilarious blunder.

One person wrote: "Honestly that is hilarious, I'm with the dad, I'd be howling."

Another stated: "Thank you for giving me a laugh this morning."

A third penned: "I'm sorry but this has me howling."
