BENGALURU: Control and confidence backed by self-belief is a potent mix and it is this seamless blend that made Mayank Agarwal thrive under pressure during his defining knock of 249 runs against Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy semifinal here on Thursday. Karnataka added 129 runs for the last two wickets and Agarwal scored 108 of them.
The opener later said the key to his close to 10-and-a-half-hour stay at the crease was planning and playing according to the situation. From being precariously placed at 79/4, Karnataka finished at 407, thanks to the skipper scoring more than half the runs.
