‘Every Year After’
It’s almost officially summer, which makes it the perfect time to dive into juicy shows packed with yearning and drama. While I highly recommend that romance fans stream “Off Campus,” which has been sitting comfortably in Prime Video’s top 10 for weeks, I also urge viewers to check out the streamer’s current No. 1 show, “Every Year After.” Based on Carley Fortune’s bestselling novel Every Summer After, the series leans into a dreamy lakeside summer aesthetic and plenty of emotional yearning between two flawed characters.
Percy Fraser (Sadie Soverall) returns to the lakeside town of Barry’s Bay after spending a decade away. Her homecoming forces her to confront memories of the six summers she spent there growing up, particularly her close bond with Sam Florek (Matt Cornett) and his family. Told across two timelines, the series moves between Percy’s teenage years and the present day, gradually revealing the events that changed the course of her life. Soon, Percy must reckon with the choices that drove her away from the place she once considered home.

‘Spider-Noir’
There’s no better companion piece to the upcoming “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” than Prime Video’s gritty new series, “Spider-Noir.” This reimagines a corner of the Spidey universe through a vintage lens, all against the backdrop of a stylized Depression-era New York. “Spider-Noir” very much leans heavily into its distinctive production design, with dark streets, period costumes, and a deliberately cinematic, old-Hollywood look. One of its standout creative choices is its dual presentation, allowing viewers to watch in either black-and-white or full color (I’d highly recommend the former).
Set in a stylized version of 1930s New York City, “Spider-Noir” follows Ben Reilly (Nicolas Cage), a down-on-his-luck private investigator and former masked vigilante known as “The Spider.” When a dangerous new case lands on his desk, Ben finds himself crossing paths with newspaper editor Robbie Robertson (Lamorne Morris), nightclub singer Cat Hardy (Li Jun Li), reporter Janet Ruiz (Karen Rodriguez), and police chief McNamara (Randy Oglesby) as he digs deeper into the city's criminal underworld. Ben is soon forced back into action, using the abilities and skills he left behind years earlier.

‘The Legend of Vox Machina’
Lastly, we’re ending with the adult animated series “The Legend of Vox Machina,” which is currently in the middle of its fourth season. Based on the first campaign of the Critical Role Dungeons & Dragons web series, this show has been highly praised for its cinematic animation style, with a strong emphasis on voice performance and expressive animation that reflects its tabletop origins. Its core premise revolves around a group of misfit adventurers known as Vox Machina who take on dangerous missions across the world of Exandria.
Following the defeat of the Chroma Conclave and Percy’s (Taliesin Jaffe) return, the members of Vox Machina have scattered across Exandria. Scanlan (Sam Riegel) travels with his daughter, Vex (Laura Bailey) and Percy remain in Whitestone, Vax (Liam O'Brien) accompanies Keyleth (Marisha Ray) on her Aramenté journey, and Pike (Ashley Johnson) continues alongside Grog (Travis Willingham) as unusual disturbances begin appearing across the realm. The season builds toward the group being drawn back together as a larger force begins to rise across Exandria.
