When pay day seems like forever away and you’re craving a treat, fakeaways are the way to go. TikTok is full of airfryer tips and recipes and when I saw someone making a McDonald’s burger using items from Aldi, I had to give it a go.
I recently got an airfryer for £48, and I’m yet to find something that I can’t put in it.

The Daewoo 2 litre Single Pot Air Fryer is the perfect kitchen appliance, especially if you only have to cook for one or two people.
It doesn’t take up much counter space at all and when compared to an electric oven, it is up to 80% cheaper to run as air frying is a faster cooking method that cuts out pre-heating and shortens the cooking time of many foods with its rapid air circulation technology.
Also airfrying has the added bonus of being that bit healthier as it needs no oil.
One man on TikTok claimed to have apparently found the perfect alternative for the McSpicy chicken burger that you can pick up in Aldi, so I decided to test it out in the airfryer.
TikTok foodie rightguysreview said Roosters Gastro Flamin' Hot Chicken Thigh Burgers taste exactly like the Maccie's favourite and cost just £2.45 a box.
When I went to Aldi, they were all out of the thighs, but I got the exact same Roosters Gastro Flamin' Hot Chicken in chicken strip form for £3.29.
This probably works out at better value as you get two thighs in a pack and there’s definitely over 12 decent sized tenders in the bag. Using two tenders per bun, you would definitely feed more people using these.
I then got seeded brioche buns in Aldi for £1.09, and a bag of shredded lettuce for 67p.
The cost was roughly 90p per burger compared to £4.79 for the McSpicy on its own.
I popped two tenders into the airfryer for 10-12 minutes at 200C. I toasted the buns and popped some mayo and lettuce on it as these are the only things put on to the Maccies version.
Honestly, it tasted almost exactly the same and for the price and convenience of making it at home, it was well worth it.
Using the airfryer to cook the chicken also reduced the cooking time by about 10 minutes than if you used the oven, so this airfryer McSpicy hack is the ideal go-to if you have a Maccies craving.
