I pride myself in being a super lightweight packer. I get compliments on it every time I travel, when I shun my checked bag allowance for a compact carry-on and even manage to bring clothes and toiletries for a long weekend in just a rucksack. But the truth is, my packing skills come from anxiety, not efficiency.
I'm a super nervous traveler, arriving at the airport with hours to spare, frantically checking to see if my gate has been announced. So, checking a bag? That's a level of stress I can't bring into my life.
I've heard too many stories of lost suitcases and luggage that didn't make it to a connecting flight to take that chance. That is, until I heard about the July Casesafe.
According to July, the Casesafe features the world's first TSA Lock-approved tracker, and it's fully integrated in every case. As an Android user who's never used an AirTag, it's a product I immediately volunteered to try — and I'm never looking back.
Here's three reasons why I'm now sold on this luxury luggage.
1. Its smart tracking is actually smart

I'm a Home Editor, but there's a reason I'm not a Smart Home Editor. I'm typically averse to testing anything that requires an app for use, but I made a rare exception for this suitcase. Thankfully, pairing my phone and the suitcase was very easy.
To connect my phone to the Casesafe, I just had to pull a tab inside the case which activated its pairing mode. Then I turned to my Google Find Hub, and sure enough, the option to pair with the suitcase came up. This means the case is paired to my Google account, so I can check on a number of devices.

From there, I was able to trigger an alarm noise, which could make it easier to find the Casesafe if I lose sight of it, or if something more nefarious happens.
You can also track the suitcase's location using the app, so if you're waiting for a connecting flight and want to make sure your suitcase is coming along for the ride, you can watch it travel from point A to point B in real-time.
2. There are heaps of thoughtful touches

Prior to testing this suitcase, I was firmly part of team Cheap Luggage. Ideally a discount model bought from TJ Maxx or the likes. So when I opened my Casesafe (I opted for the Checked size in the shade Moss) I was delighted to feel how elevated it was, from its hardened corners to prevent damage to its lightweigh-yet-sturdy exterior.
And on the inside, it's no different. There's a zipped compartment with pockets built into the dividing window, and a compression pad that can be used to squeeze the contents of the right compartment. This keeps everything securely in place, ideal for my obsessive packing regime. The zipped compartment also allows you to securely stow anything urgent you might need access to, such as a laptop or some PJ's!

There's also a hidden laundry bag that's waterproof and folds neatly into a zipped compartment in the right pocket of the case. I thought this was so simple, but such a genius touch.
3. Everything about it is oh so smooth
My old suitcase has one handle height, but the July case has 20! You simply pull it all the way up, then push it down to your preferred spot, and it'll stay there for your journey.

I love a European summer break, but if you've ever tried to lug a case down the streets of Rome or alongside a canal in Amsterdam, you'll know that not all luggage is up to the task.
Admittedly I've yet to take the July Casesafe to Rome yet, but I have taken it through the streets of London, and it glided smoothly over every crack in the sidewalk. Its 360-degree spinner wheels are super quiet and very sturdy, so I'm confident that it'll stand up to the test of time.
The only downside I can think of? It's a lot more expensive than your average suitcase at $325. But when I weigh up the cost alongside the stress I experience when travelling with a checked bag, I can almost justify it to myself.
