'I’m interested' - Rio Ferdinand raises Sean Dyche and Dominic Calvert-Lewin Everton question

Rio Ferdinand has revealed he is 'interested' to see how new Everton manager Sean Dyche gets the best out of Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

The England international has been plagued by injury problems for the past 17 months. He missed much of last season with a fractured toe and a thigh problem, then sustained a knee injury on the eve of this season that ruled him out for two months.

So far this season, he has only managed 12 appearances in all competitions and has only completed the full 90 minutes just twice. However, on his day, the England international is one of the best forwards in the Premier League.

During the 2020/21 season, Calvert-Lewin scored 21 times and during Saturday's 1-0 win over Arsenal at Goodison Park, looked like he was returning to his best. The game was Dyche’s first in charge of the club.

And former Manchester United defender Ferdinand believes Dyche has probably never had a player in the profile of Calvert-Lewin before, and he is interested to see how the former Burnley boss gets the best out of him.

“Sean Dyche probably hasn’t had that profile of player to work with ever in his career… a forward who was as mobile and as athletic as somebody like Dominic Calvert-Lewin when he’s fit,” he said on his FIVE podcast.

“To have those tools, he has not worked with that before and I’m interested to see how he gets the best out of that.”
