'I'm Gen Z and I tried this odd 90s pizza topping - it was actually delicious'

Pizza toppings are a divisive topic with the great pineapple debate raging on for years as well as new questionable flavour combinations cropping up. Some dedicated pizza connoisseurs stick to the classics like pepperoni or margherita while others venture into short-lived hot dog stuffed crusts that are doomed to be discontinued.

Not all discontinued flavours are gone forever it seems as one 90s classic, discarded for 19 years has been resurrected by it's manufacturer - the Heinz Beanz Pizza.

The Heinz Beanz Pizza has been relaunched in Iceland, costing just £3, after being shunned from shelves in 2003. We decided to taste test the controversial flavour to see if it was worth the resurrection.

£3 from Iceland

Heinz is bringing back the 90s favourite along with a selection of other bean based foods, including Heinz Beanz Burgerz, Heinz Beanz Bowls and even Heinz Beanz Filled Hash Browns. They're all on sale now but the pizza in particular is causing a stir for being an affront to our pizza sensibilities.

As I was only six when the original version of the pizza was removed from public consumption, I went into this taste test totally blind with no prior baked bean pizza knowledge. It had the potential to go so wrong as my hopes were rather high that it would be delicious.

Shockingly, the pizza turned out to be not only edible but actually tasted rather good. I will confess I'm a big fan of baked beans on toast or cheesy beans on chips so was delighted to find this more than adequate for a quick dinner.

It tasted exactly as you would expect; cheesy baked beans on a pizza base. The tomatoey base was not too runny or oily and the bean to cheese ratio was perfect. It was let down slightly by that familiar hard, thin crust you find on supermarket pizzas.

It's hard to fault the Heinz Beanz Pizza - no it's never going to be a gourmet meal served at high brow restaurants but it nails being a baked bean pizza to eat at home. I dare say I would eat it again in a pinch and enjoy it too.

This pizza is the perfect dinner for those days where you need absolute comfort food, something warm to fight off the winter chill or just really don't want to cook. While I think the world would have kept revolving without this pizza being resurrected, it's a worthy return from the food graveyard.
