‘I’m boycotting until they hire some beautiful Black women’: Construction worker traveling through Florida stops at Hooters. He’s disappointed by what he sees

A construction worker in Boca Raton, Florida, goes into Hooters, hoping his server will be a “beautiful Black woman.” However, he shares his disappointment and boycotts the restaurant after realizing no Black women work there.

In a video with over 2.5 million views, TikToker Jersey (@jerseyjon49) says, “anyone who knows” him knows that his dating preference is Black women. He notes that he was staying in Boca Raton, which he says is a “predominantly white town.”

“Yesterday, I find a Hooters and I’m like, ‘OK cool. There’s going to be some girls at Hooters who are Black,'” he says.

However, he says he was disappointed when he saw who was working there.

Why were there no Black women working at Hooters?

Despite the location being “the biggest Hooters” he’s ever seen, he immediately realizes that no Black women work there.

“Then I see a manager, a Black guy, and he’s like ‘Can I help you?'” he recounts. “I said, ‘Yeah, where’s all the Black chicks?'”

The TikToker says the manager shook his head and walked away without saying anything.

“I’m boycotting Hooters in Boca Raton until they hire some beautiful, Black women,” he says.

While there is no current data on how many Black women work at Hooters, the restaurant chain was sued in 2020 by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) for racial discrimination during the hiring process. At the time, just 8% of women working at Hooters were Black.

In a follow-up video, Jersey says a local Haitian restaurant invited him to stop by. Upon his arrival, a group of Black women walks out with a sign that says, “I found the Black girls at Pearl.” The TikToker dances with the women and sips a drink at the bar.

How did viewers react to the TikToker?

In the TikTok comments, viewers share mixed opinions on his dating preferences.

Some Black women support his boycott of Hooters and say there’s no problem with having a racial preference. In fact, a 2023 report notes that 74% of women and 58% of men have a specific race they prefer to date.

“White boy is trying to vibe with some sisters and I love it,” one writes.

“You go! Thanks for standing on business for the black queens,” another says.

However, some feel as though the TikToker overly sexualizes Black women by seeking them out at Hooters.

“Yall… he only sees us a fetish please stand tf up,” a commenter remarks.

“I get the message. And thanks for the compliment about Black women…but we are so tired of being sexualized by other races that just want to parade us around and have fun with us but never marry us. We are tired of being the kink. We got corporate jobs now,” another writes.

“Excuse me, sir we are not working at Hooters. Not because they’re not hiring us. It’s because we are not applying we have degrees and own businesses. We don’t wanna be sexualized anymore,” a third suggests.

In another follow-up video, Jersey addresses the comments calling him out for “fetishizing” Black women.

“I thought a fetish is when you get tied up or something. I never knew that someone having a different skin color was a fetish,” he says. “It’s 2025, people, I can’t believe you still have these views.”
