'I'm a plumber and there's one simple thing you can do in your hot press to save on electricity bill'

One plumber has shared the one practical thing people need to learn to cut down their energy bills. - and it takes two seconds.

As the cost of living crisis continues, the plumber took to TikTok to share a money-saving tip for people regarding their heating system’s pressure.

In a video, Fraser Hoehle revealed one problem he consistently sees as a plumber, racking up over 214k views.

He said: “If there was one money saving tip I could give you for saving money in your own home regarding your heating system, it’s learn how to top your pressure up.

“I just got a call off some guy who doesn’t know how to top his pressure up, it’s 101 in life with where’s your main stopcock, how to turn your pressure up, where’s your electricity meter and where is your gas meter.”

The expert told people to step back, relax and watch a masterclass on turning the pressure up, adding “It’s not even hard, you can even YouTube it.”

He turned two dials on the boiler system to fix the pressure.

The reason fixing your heating system’s pressure is important is due to the amount of fuel it burns when it’s not operating properly.

When the pressure is too low, the boiler isn’t working efficiently resulting in increased heating bills. It also impacts the longevity of your boiler, meaning you will have to fork over thousands to replace it sooner.

Low pressure in a boiler can happen for a number of reasons, such as a leak in the pressure relief valve or in the heating pipework, air in the system or more.

High pressure in your heating system can also result in increased energy consumption and higher bills. The higher the pressure in your boiler, the higher your bills will be.

One of the most common causes of high pressure in a boiler is overfilling your central heating system.
