I'm A Celebrity viewers puzzled over Boy George and Scarlette Douglas' odd trial

I'm A Celebrity was back on Sunday night, and with it came a load of new trials.

The 2022 series started with a bang, hosted by Ant McPartlin and Dec Donnelly, as the first 10 stars made their debut.

But as some of the stars faced huge challenges and terrifying tasks, viewers were left baffled by the fact two of the contestants seemed to have it easy.

As the stars began their show adventure, they quickly learned they'd have to get into action straight away, as each contestant faced different tasks.

When the jungle series finally made its way back to Australia after a two-year absence, there was the usual jumping out of helicopters and critter challenges - as well as the famous ledge challenge.

But one task left fans confused, as Boy George and Scarlette Douglas didn't have to do very much - ahead of the first proper trial of the series on Monday night.

Viewers shared their reactions to seeing the pair having to row a small dinghy to the shore, where they were met by Olivia Attwood and radio star Chris Moyles.

Given everyone else had tougher tasks, fans wanted to know why Boy George and Scarlette were given something so "easy".

One viewer said: "Like how Chris and Olivia had to jump out of a helicopter and George and Scarlett just had to row a boat to shore."

Another agreed: "So… Boy George and Scarlett’s challenge was gently rowing in a small boat while Olivia and Chris jumped out of a helicopter?"

A third asked: "Why is nobody talking about the fact Boy George & Scarlett had to simply ROW from a luxury boat to the shore?"

Meanwhile, one task saw former rugby player Mike Tindall, Coronation Street star Sue Cleaver and Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner learn that they must face their first set of challenges, and they were not alone.

Owen read from the instructions: “Celebrities, you now have the chance to win three stars on the Critter Cruise.

"Each star represents a meal for camp tonight. Marked on the map are three challenges, one for each of you to complete. In each challenge you have an opportunity to find a code and that code will unlock one of the stars on the boat."

Mike offered himself up for the first task that required him to submerge under water and reappear inside an upturned boat.

Once inside, Zara Tindall's husband faced a variety of creepy crawlies including a large spider as he had to work out a specific code.

In the second task, Sue had to rummage inside boxes to count how many fish eyes were in each one.

Finally, soap star Owen had to get inside a pipe and search through the critters to retrieve various allen keys.

Meanwhile, Love Island's Olivia and radio star Chris went for a skydive.

This left Loose Women and ITV News' Charlene White, comedian Babatúndé Aléshé and footballer Jill Scott having to take on the famous ledge challenge, with a twist.

As well as having to walk along the narrow ledge, the stars were told they had to lean off of it leaving them dangling over the edge of a 32-story building.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! 2022 continues Monday at 9pm on ITV and ITV Hub.
