I'm A Celebrity viewers 'amazed' by outcome as rivals Shaun Ryder and Gillian McKeith team up for trial

As well as being known for famously fainting on I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! in 2010, Gillian McKeith also clashed heads with fellow campmate Shaun Ryder. The pair are now back in camp together for I'm A Celebrity... South Africa and neither were originally impressed to see each other.

However, to fans' amazement, they were able to put their past behind them and work together to earn a treat for camp. Shaun even gave Gillian a hug and Gillian said she was "pleasantly surprised" the pair had "turned a corner".

One fan said: "I'm amazed that - 1 Shaun didnt kill Gillian; 2 Oxygen wasnt required" A second tweeted: "These two are genuinely absolutely hilarious together - what an unlikely team #imaceleb" A third said: "THE ENEMIES TO FRIENDS ARC IS SO REAL #ImACeleb". Another added: "They actually got along shocker this the start of a new friendship??".

Also: "Aww Shaun & Gillian are like proper lovebirds" followed by three laughing emojis. A fifth said: "Love seeing Shaun and Gillian working together. Reckon they’re gonna become besties".

When Gillian first entered the show, as a late arrival and was carried into camp in a box, Shaun said he "nearly killed her" in their previous series together. Popping out the box Gillian said: "I couldn't let you do this without jungle Gill!" Shaun can be seen telling other campmates: "She should have stayed in the box."

Gillian is known for famously fainting before a trial and many fans believed she faked the faint to try and get out of it. Speaking before entering I'm A Celebrity... South Africa Gillian denied that the faint was fake. She said: “I have a history of fainting since childhood. The day before we did the live Trial, I hadn’t had much to eat and I wasn’t feeling very well – which is the precursor to passing out. I have fainted several times and not just in the jungle."
