I'm a Celebrity has sparked a fresh 'sexism' row after viewers spotted that women have been first to be voted off the show in the past four series.
The comments comes as Charlene White became first celebrity elimination followed swiftly by TV presenter Scarlette Douglas' departure last night.
As is typical viewers vented on social media about the results with one viewer picking up on a pattern.
The viewer said: "It feels like the 3rd series in a row that almost all of the women are eliminated first."
To which another replied: "Sad."
And a quick check reveals there is some truth to the viewers claims as going back as far back as 2019, Adele Roberts was voted off first.
And a quick check reveals there is some truth to the viewers claims as going back as far back as 2019, Adele Roberts was voted off first.
This was followed by Hollie Arnold in 2020, Arlene Phillips in 2021 and this year, news presenter Charlene White.
But it was Scarlette's shock departure last night that sparked the sexism debate.
One viewer wrote: "I really liked Scarlette and I’m shocked she has gone, at this point I really can’t predict who’s next."
But this is not the first time fans have raised the sexism flag as in 2020 when the show featured in the Castle for the first time, all four female celebs were voted off first.
At the time one fan posted on Twitter: "Why is it that all 4 departures so far have been women?"
Broadcaster Victoria Derbyshire and Coronation Street actor Beverley Callard followed musical theatre star Ruthie Henshall and Paralympian Hollie Arnold out of the castle.
And the Twitter users thoughts were echoed by Arlene Phillips who speaking on The Mail's Jungle Confidential questioned why women were voted off first.
When asked to elaborate, she said: 'I think why a female quite frankly? Because on our show I was first, then Kadeena then Snoochie.
Arlene also broadened the debate and questioned whether it was 'systemic' and the lack of females in power roles.
She added: 'It's very interesting, where women really stand in society. You only need to watch Parliament on TV and as much as parties are trying to bring in females, again in the House of Lords, we are dominated by males, we are swamped by them.
''Which is why I think it's very important for women of every age to be on television.''
Meanwhile back in the current series tonight's instalment will see another exit, as selected camp mates take on the dreaded Bushtucker Trial titled Boiling Point.
This trial will put the celeb to the test using wrenches to unscrew stars from the wall, while all manner of gruesome things are dropped on their head and they are eventually immersed in water.
The trial previously saw Radio DJ Chris Moyles panicking when faced with creepy crawlies, as he tried desperately to use spanners to release the stars in the underground pipe network resulting in just one star for camp.
I'm A Celebrity returns to ITV1 tonight at 9.15pm.
