I'm A Celebrity sees fourth contestant eliminated as Boy George leaves the jungle

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! has sent Boy George packing as the fourth person during Tuesday night's show, as the campmates said goodbye to the pop icon.

The Culture Club singer was in the bottom two alongside radio DJ Chris Boyles, but it was the singer who walked out of the jungle.

With only five more days to go in the jungle, the campmates are gearing up for their long walk across the bridge, and Ant and Dec will be crowning the king or queen during Sunday night's instalment.

In his exit interview, the pop star said: "I am sort of ready. I had an amazing time and I've done a lot of things I thought I'd never do. I'm excited to see my sister." George described his time in the jungle as 'beautifully challenging' and 'somewhat enlightening', saying it had allowed him to go on an 'inner journey'.

On how he managed to keep himself sane in the camp, he said: "I had to forget who I was the whole time I was in here, I had to let it go. I just had to get over it. I just had to say, "I'm in the jungle, I've had no control."

He added: "Being really honest, I am happy to go today. It's not something I thought I would ever do but it's a lot tougher than I thought. I think it really makes you appreciate what you have and the people that you love."

The musician said he would like to see former rugby player Mike Tindall or ex footballer Jill Scott win. Of Mike, he said: "He's been the most stoic, he's done the most. I think he's much wilder than he lets on,' before concluding: 'I think Mike or even Jill."

I'm A Celebrity fans took to Twitter after the news was announced. One wrote: "I’m so relieved Boy George has been voted out of #ImACelebrity we can finally find out more about the other celebrities in the jungle instead of everything having to revolve around him. Hummmmmmmmm your way back home."

"As much as I'm annoyed Matt's still in there, it is objectively hilarious that Boy George got voted out before him. #ImaCeleb," another said. A third wrote: "Will be super boring now @BoyGeorge has gone. It’s an entertainment show not watch the nice but dull brigade #ImACeleb "

And meanwhile, tensions continue to simmer between the remaining celebrities, particularly when it comes to food. The latest show saw Hollyoaks actor Owen Warner nearly lose his cool with singer Boy George, who cheekily swiped an extra banana from the camp's reserves.

The Culture Club star, 61, reasoned that with Sue Cleaver leaving the camp in the morning, he could get away with eating one more, but eagle-eyed Owen, 23, noticed straight away.

In the Bush Telegraph, Boy George had giggled: “I had a banana last night and then obviously Sue left this morning and there was an extra one, so I took it and I ate it and I hid the skin in my pocket so I wouldn’t get caught. Ha ha ha!”

But after Owen and Jill Scott noticed there was a fruit missing, the former realised it was Boy George who had done the deed.

“You had one last night and one this morning?” he questioned, as the pop singer replied: “Mmm, I thought it was Sue’s.”

“Without asking?” Owen fired back, and Boy George laughed: “Says the man who has had more food than anyone in this camp.”

Annoyed about the situation, Owen confided to the telegraph: “So last night the bananas we got for dessert we saved for breakfast this morning. There was 9. There’s one short. George confesses, he’s had Sue’s banana. Don’t steal food from me!”

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! continues tomorrow on STV at 9pm.
