I'm A Celebrity's Sue Cleaver met birth mother by 'spooky' chance after adoption

Sue Cleaver explained how she reconnected with her birth mother thanks to a 'spooky' chance encounter on this evening's edition of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!

The Coronation Street star, 59, was in her early twenties when she bumped into her birth mother unexpectedly, after being raised by her adoptive family as a child.

Sue - who has been praised by fans of the ITV show for raising awareness of diabetes - gave her fellow campmates goosebumps as she discussed reuniting with her birth mother during tonight's show.

As she spoke with her jungle co-stars about being adopted, the soap star recalled: "It was when I was at drama school, I was about 22/24 and Royal Exchange were looking for little tiny parts for Oedipus."

She went on to explain how when she walked in, a fellow actor remarked: "Oh my god, she’s the absolute double of my wife when I met her."

He then asked Sue her date of birth. Sue went on to tell her celebrity campmates how he then asked: "Oh, so where were you born?’"

"And I went, 'Barnet'," Sue continued, before continuing to recall the actor ringing his wife and declaring: "I’ve found her."

"What!" Scarlette Douglas declared after hearing the story, with Lioness Jill Scott adding: "Nah, that has just given me goosebumps!"

Babatúndé Aleshe was also stunned, saying: "That’s spooky! That’s mad."

Sue went on to reveal: "It’s uncanny and I’ve got two half sisters who are all in the business."

"That is the most incredible story I think I’ve ever heard," Jill told the star after she shared her experience.

Sue concluded saying: "It’s lovely because my mum and my birth mother, we’ve all met, been out for dinner, we’ve all kept in touch, so we’ve all had lovely relationship ever since, so it’s a nice ending. I’m very lucky."

The Coronation Street star has been a big hit with I'm A Celebrity viewers so far this series, with many fans of the show praising her for raising awareness of diabetes during her stint in the jungle.

"Does Sue Cleaver have diabetes? I thought I spotted an insulin arm patch on her and now she’s exempt from the eating trial," one eagle-eyed viewer mused on Twitter earlier this week.

While the patch on Sue's arm hasn't been confirmed, it's likely a Dexcom, something used by people with diabetes.

Sue's Type 2 diabetes diagnosis first became public knowledge back in 2011, when the soap star received hospital treatment after collapsing on the set of Coronation Street.

Type 2 diabetes - the type Sue has - is when the sufferer's body cannot produce enough insulin. In the UK, around 90% of all adults with diabetes have Type 2.

As Sue seemingly wears a Dexcom on I'm A Celebrity, fans of the show have been praising the actress for normalising living life with diabetes and not hiding her monitor.
