Shaun Ryder is battling a 'unexplained' health condition on his return to I'm A Celebrity, which has left him with no hair, eyelashes or even fingernails. And details of SHaun's issue come as viewers saw Shaun left in agony on Tuesday night.
Having finished second to Queen of the Jungle Stacey Solomon on his first stint on I'm A Celebrity, Happy Mondays and Black Grape star Shaun is back in the fold for the ITV show's new All Stars run, taking his place in an I'm A Celebrity line-up that also includes Janice DIckinson, Amir Khan and Helen Flanagan.
Gioven he was fantastic viewing first time round, bookies aer tipping Shaun to do rather well in All Stars and he got the shock of his life at the start of Tuesday night's show when his nemesis from 2010, Gillian McKeith, arrived in campo in a box to be the first late arrival of the new series.
As the likes of Jordan Banjo and Phil Tufnell quizzed Shaun on what Gillian was like back then, Shaun joked: "I wanted to kill her! And, as well as being candid about his feelings on Gillian, Shaun has also opened up about living with 'unexplained' alopecia.
While he has yet to address it on screen, Shaun first spoke about the condition back in 2019, when he told Good Morning Britain: "I've just had a new hip, and at the same time all my body hair decides to fall out.
"No eyelashes, no fingernails, no head, no hair whatsoever. We don’t really know. Because I have an underactive thyroid that makes you put on weight and slow down, they thought it might have been linked to that or the fact I don't produce testosterone anymore."
Shaun also had a health scare during Covid lockdown, with doctors discovering non-cancerous cysts in his testicles, with him happy to report that he was eventually given the all clear.
And on Tuesday, I'[m A Celeb fans saw the musician left writhing in agony after his hip popped out in the middle of the night. After alarming his co-stars with his painful; ashourts, Shaun explained: "I had been in there two nights, and boom, f****** hell, my hip had come out.
"I pushed it back in myself. I didn’t want to see a doctor. Paul Burrell helped me out, he was a professional."
After Gillian's shock arrival in camp, her co-stars were informed of three more latecomers in a teaser for Wednesday's episode, with them being forced to choose between Andy Whyment, Georgia Toffolo and Myleene Klass, as to who would take on the next trial on their behalf and join them for dinner.
