I'm A Celebrity's Jill Scott prepared for jungle sleeping after years of sofa surfing

It looks like I'm A Celebrity star Jill Scott will have no problem getting to sleep in the jungle, as she revealed that she can "sleep anywhere" after years of sleeping on other people's sofas while travelling for football games.

The Sunderland AFC Ladies legend and retired Lioness said that she would ask her teammates if she could sleep on their sofas to save cash, in the days before she and fellow female footballers were paid to play. Jill regularly made the 170-mile journey from Sunderland to Everton after signing up to Everton Ladies in 2006, and would do all she could to keep costs down.

"When I first started there was a lot of travelling and we didn't get paid to play football, so a lot of the time you were covering your own expenses," Jill told The Mirror. The football star added that while she had to fork out so much of her own money for petrol that she "should have had shares" and spent many nights sleeping on sofas, she feels "so fortunate" to have gone through the experience because of the friends she made.

"Back then it was like, 'Can someone let us sleep on the sofa? I've got training tonight,'" she recalled. "It was literally like that, but you made such good friendships through that."

But sofa surfing took its toll on the now 35-year-old's health. Jill said: "I was poorly quite a lot of the time and now I think I know why. I would always get my sleep, because I can sleep anywhere and that's probably why, because I got used to it."

Always being on the road for training also meant that Jill had to eat whatever she could find at service stations. "I'd be stopping at the services and just grabbing anything," she said.

"Some of the food I've eaten, like a Dairylea Lunchable, just to get some energy. I was ill quite a lot."

But the star may have a problem with the usual diet of rice and beans in the I'm A Celeb jungle, admitting that she can be prone to getting 'hangry'. "I usually have breakfast, lunch, dinner, I always have supper, and definitely a snack in there as well. And definitely a chocolate bar. I am a bit of a grazer," she admitted.

But Jill said that she will miss a good old morning cuppa most of all during her time in camp. "Aside from my family, I will definitely miss coffee and tea as I am a big coffee and tea drinker," she said. "That is what starts my day, and I am going to have to think of something else."
