I'm A Celebrity's Ant and Dec will mercilessly rip into Matt Hancock, predict fans

I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! fans are convinced hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly will tear Matt Hancock apart when the show gets underway Down Under on November 6.

The Conservative Party politician has been stripped of the Tory whip after agreeing to appear on the ITV show, as he joins the likes of Chris Moyles, Love Island star Olivia Attwood and royal Mike Tindall preparing themselves for a stint in the Australian jungle.

A political ally close to the politician has claimed Hancock - who receives a £84,144 yearly salary as an elected MP - will declare the cash he receives for appearing on I'm a Celebrity before making 'a donation' to charity.

The West Suffolk MP was forced to quit as health secretary in June 2021 after breaking coronavirus lockdown rules by conducting an affair in his ministerial office with aide Gina Coladangelo.

The popular hosting pair did not hold back with their mockery of the then-prime minister Boris Johnson as revelations about Downing Street's alleged 'partygate' came out during last year's series at Gwrych Castle in north Wales.

Many of the playful skits included Dec mimicking Boris when he lost his place during a speech at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) in South Shields and Ant joking about how the celebrities voted for a new camp leader but insisted they did not have a party.

And fans of the highly-popular ITV show believe that the puns from the Geordie duo will be directed at Hancock throughout the series.

One person wrote on Twitter : "At least we know @MattHancock has never watched the last series of I’m A Celeb… if he saw one “good evening, Prime Minister” he would steer well clear of Ant and Dec looking for revenge on the pandemic government."

A second fan, who posted a video of 'All the times Ant and Dec mocked Boris Johnson for party scandal on I'm a Celeb', said: "A reminder that these are the gags Ant and Dec made about Boris and partygate Now Matt Hancock is actually going on the show !!! … will give them some new material."

A third commented: "Just spectacular scenes. Ant and Dec are going to have a field day making jokes for this season."

I'm A Celebrity returns to our screens on Sunday, November 6 (ITV)

Hancock is the latest of a long list of serving and former MPs to make an appearance on I'm A Celebrity.

Edwina Currie appeared in the 14th series in 2014, Boris' father Stanley Johnson entered three years later and formed an unlikely friendship with Made In Chelsea star and eventual Queen of the Jungle Georgia "Toff" Toffolo, with former Scottish Labour leader Kezia Dugdale also among the cast of 2017.

Lembit Opik braved the Australian jungle in 2010, former Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Nadine Dorries entered in 2012 and Robert Kilroy-Silk in 2008.
