I'm A Celebrity flooded with Ofcom complaints as some viewers 'left in tears'

Many I'm a Celebrity: Get Me Out of Here! viewers flooded Ofcom with angry remarks over the arrival of Matt Hancock.

The broadcasting watchdog has been inundated with complaints from I'm A Celebrity fans as the independent politician entered the jungle, reports Birmingham Live.

One person asked: "Ofcom why are ITV allowing prominent Tories to have excessive airtime peddling their narrative under guise of a reality/game show? Aren’t there rules about this? #ImACeleb."

Another wrote: "Made a complaint to Ofcom for the first and only time in my life tonight. I should not be left in tears at the end of an entertainment show. #ImACeleb."

A third noted: "Ofcom, I want to make a complaint. I've just seen Matt Hancock showering. #ImACeleb."

And another joked: "I’M PHONING OFCOM. GET YOUR SHIRT BACK ON #ImACeleb."

More raged: "I don’t care about #ImACeleb @MattHancock. Should be behind bars not eating crap on fake reality TV show @Ofcom sort it out!"

Another remarked: “Rly upset that I had to see Matt Hancock shower.”

Others said: "This is an official ofcom complaint WHY have I just had to see a close up of matt hancock’s teeth #ImACeleb."

And one added: "I wonder how many complaints are going into #ofcom about #matthancock #ImACeleb."

One commented: "ITV shouldn't have let him become a contestant. I know it's good for ratings, but the context in which Hancock has risen to fame should surely have discounted him from an entertainment show like 'I'm a Celebrity'.

"Had he been just another politician, or the coronavirus inquiry (which hasn't finished yet) completely absolved him of any wrongdoing or incompetence, then things might be different.

"Otherwise, however, he shouldn't be trying to make us laugh or feel like we can enact revenge through a Bushtucker trial."

The user added: "The whole situation is pretty grotesque and depressing."

The new series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here airs every night at 9pm on ITV1 and ITV Hub.
