I'm A Celebrity: Carol Vorderman says she tried to 'double bluff' everyone during her 2016 stint

I'm A Celebrity... South Africa is the brand new I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! spin-off. The new programme will see legendary campmates from years go by return to camp in a brand new setting to mark 20 years of the beloved series.

So far those in the line-up include boxing champion Amir Khan, Diversity dancer and DJ Jordan Banjo, former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan and TV presenter Carol Vorderman. As well as Olympic athlete Fatima Whitbread, former royal butler Paul Burrell, ex-England cricketer Phil Tufnell, supermodel Janice Dickinson and music legend Shaun Ryder.

And ahead of her return, former Countdown star Carol, who appeared in the 2016 series, has opened up about her past experience in the Jungle. Revealing she lied to everyone in camp, the 62-year-old said this time she does not have a game plan and instead wants to savour every second in the new series.

She said: "Last time I did I'm A Celebrity, I tried to double bluff everyone, I told them I was frightened of things I wasn't really, like heights! It did sort of semi work. Afterwards I told them the story as I thought I would never be going again and I admitted what I was really frightened of so now they all know!

"It's just important to enjoy it and have fun. We’ve still got a WhatsApp group from our time on I’m a Celebrity in 2016!"

Carol was fifth to be voted out of the show, which saw Scarlett Moffatt crowned Queen of the Jungle. The Gogglebox favourite beat Joel Dommett and Adam Thomas in the final.

Explaining the scariest trial she took on, Carol said: "Walking the plank during the walk in at the top of the tower. Nobody had ever done it before and it was very tough."

Sharing her best memory, Carol added: "Waking up outdoors in camp. It was stunning and I loved my whole time in the camp."

ITV bosses have teased there will be many more celebrities taking part in the special series, but that viewers will have to watch to find out who they are and when they will enter camp.
