I'm A Celebrity 2022 start date brought forward as series returns to Australia

Ant and Dec will be crowning new jungle royalty earlier than expected with I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! set to return in October.

For the first time in its 20 year run, ITV insiders have said I'm A Celeb will be moving its usual schedule in order to accommodate the 2022 World Cup tournament. As a result, the new launch date will be October 30.

The reality competition lasts for three weeks, meaning the crowning will fall on November 20, just one day before the World Cup kicks off. Not wanting to compete with the football, insiders said bringing the show forward was the best option for everyone.

They said: "The best thing for viewers was to just avoid the clash altogether. The last thing anyone wants is for the audience to have to choose between the latest from the jungle and an England game."

The show will also be making a return to its usual stomping ground of Australia after having to relocate to Gwrych Castle in Wales due to covid restrictions. Rosemary Newell, Director of Content, announced the news, saying: "We expect a celebrity to return in Australia in November, when it will generate audience over 11 million."

Appearing on The One Show in February, Ant also said: "Well, the plan is the jungle, so if all things…" Dec added: "Nothing against Wales. We love Wales but you know, Australia is its home and we’d like to get back there if we can. "
