ITV is celebrating its highest viewing figures for the I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! final since 2018.

A total of 10.1 million tuned in to Sunday night’s show to watch former England footballer Jill Scott, 35, beat Matt Hancock and Owen Warner to be crowned the queen of the jungle for 2022.

The broadcaster confirmed it was the highest-rated final since 2018 when an average of 10.9 million watched football manager Harry Redknapp win the Australian jungle reality show.

This year’s total is an increase of 3.6 million viewers on the 2021 final, which saw the celebrities roughing it in Wales.

Sunday’s show attracted a peak audience of 11.5 million viewers.

Speaking to hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly after being told she had won, Scott said: “I just can’t believe it. Honestly, I think I’m going to owe my grandma a lot of money for the 12 million votes she’s done.

“We were one big team, I don’t think there should be one winner, we couldn’t have got through it without all of us.”

Hancock, 44, came third and was the first to leave jungle, followed by Hollyoaks actor Warner, 23, who came second.

The other celebrities who took part in this year’s series were former England rugby star Mike Tindall, Coronation Street actress Sue Cleaver, Culture Club singer Boy George and comedian Seann Walsh.

Former UK Health Secretary Matt Hancock finished in third place (ITV)

Former A Place in the Sun host Scarlette Douglas, Loose Women and ITV News’s Charlene White, and radio host Chris Moyles and comedian Babatunde Aléshé also signed on for the 2022 line-up.

Former Love Island star Olivia Attwood, 31, was forced to quit the jungle after just 24 hours on medical grounds.
