I'm A Celeb South Africa premiere breaks ITV records with ITV 4.9m viewers

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!'s new All-Star spin-off series have broken ITV records after bringing in 4.9 million viewers.

The reality series, which was filmed last year in South Africa, features beloved stars including Carol Vorderman, Jordan Banjo and Shaun Ryder.

I'm A Celeb South Africa aired on Monday with the channel's highest weekday audience so far this year.

It peaked at 4.9 million TV viewers and attracted an average of 4.3 million TV viewers.

The views are the highest TV rating for any channel in 2023 in the Monday 9pm slot.

I'm A Celeb also brought in a 55% share of viewers aged 16-34 years old, which is the channel's biggest weeknight young audience.

Stars appearing in the South Africa spin-off include Amir Khan, Helen Flanagan, Fatima Whitbread, Paul Burrell, Phil Tufnell and Janice Dickinson.

Gillian McKeith walked into camp as the first latecomer in the series.

As the series was recorded last year, the series will not end with a Jungle King or Queen.

They will instead have a 'legend' and, of course, the public won't be able to vote.

A statement from ITV read: "With no public vote, they will be competing against each other in a battle to become the first ever 'I'm A Celebrity Legend'."

Meanwhile, former England cricketer Phil is the bookies' favourite to win the show.

Jessica O'Reilly of betting firm Ladbrokes said: "Tuffers was a firm fan favourite back in the day which easily makes him the clear front-runner for glory in South Africa."

She added: "However, with the likes of Joe Swash and Georgia Toffolo rumoured to be joining the camp his position at the top of the I'm A Celebrity betting may not last for too long."

Phil is 4/1 to win the series while next in line is Happy Monday's star, Shaun Ryder with odds of 8/1, and Carol Vorderman at 10/1.

Scarlett Moffatt, who is presenting I'm A Celebrity... South Africa - The Podcast with Seann Walsh, backed Carol to win the series.

"My camp mam. She’s a pilot, not scared of heights, she’s not afraid to get stuck into a camel’s penis… she’s on duty for cooking and food is life in there," she said.
