'I just enjoy them' What it's like to orgasm while sleeping like Davina McCall

A woman says she orgasms while she sleeps just like Davina McCall and says others who do the same should "relax and enjoy them". Marza Tovo, 43, says she experiences the so-called nocturnal orgasms - sexual arousal that occurs during sleep and wakes one to perceive the experience of orgasm.

TV presenter Davina McCall, 55, recently shared how she has also climaxed while sleeping - multiple times. Marza can’t remember the first time she had an orgasm in her sleep, but she says she only started having them once she started having sex.

All her previous relationships had “been with guys”, but Marza found her nocturnal orgasms only happened when she was having “hot dreams” about women. She doesn’t like to label her sexuality and considers herself sexually fluid.

The “intense” orgasms don’t happen too frequently to Marza - but when they do, they’re “crazy and pulsating”. The intensity of the sensations "always" wake her up - but it isn't possible for her to have more than one in the same night, and they only usually happen "a few times a year".

Marza, a sex, love and relationship coach, from Florianópolis, Brazil, said: “Nocturnal orgasms are way more intense than regular orgasms. You’ll be asleep, wondering if you’re lucid or dreaming, and you’ll just feel deep contractions in your pelvic floor.

“These always happen to me when I’m having hot dreams - usually, I’m exchanging touch with another woman, or other women. I believe you can tune into them, even if you’re asleep, and be fully aware that they’re happening.

"I think it's great that Davina is speaking out about nocturnal orgasms to make them seem more normal. I'm all for celebs speaking publicly about orgasms in general in order to normalise them. Nocturnal orgasms can really feel like a mystery sometimes, but try not to worry about it - just relax and enjoy them."

Marza didn’t even realise women could have nocturnal orgasms and says this was due to lack of education about them.

“I think this is why my wet dreams involve women as well,” she said. “My sexuality is more open to women because I was raised around so much slut shaming. I’d meet guys and they’d only want to have sex in their own way, on their terms.”

She admits nocturnal orgasms have undoubtedly affected her sex life - but she worries it could be in a bad way.

“I’m constantly comparing between my nocturnal orgasms and the orgasms I have with a partner," she said. “They’re just so much stronger during my sleep. I have really crazy nights thanks to nocturnal orgasms - they contract and pulsate, I really enjoy it.

“My advice to women everywhere would be not to feel ashamed. Just lie back and enjoy the ride.”
