When pals Steve Walther and Emma Brooks took their dogs out for a walk together back in June 2021, they had no idea that their lives were about to change forever.
The fitness lovers stopped off for a quick bite to eat at a pub near their home in Addingham, but as they tucked into their meal Steve, 52, suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed. He had experienced "no signs, no indications, no pain, nothing" in the hours before. In his words, it "was just like somebody pulled the plug".
Emma, 40, compared it to someone having "flicked a switch off".
